    Question Traxxas Branded NiMh Batteries

Ive been searching a few forums and Im not really finding a definite answer... does anyone know if Traxxas is making the Traxxas brand NiMh batteries or is someone else making them and putting the Traxxas logo on them?

I just bought a Traxxas series 4 (8.4v 4200mah) NiMh battery and Im hoping its not made by Venom... I spent the extra $15 on it because I didnt want one made by Venom as I have not heard great things about their batteries

There aren't that many companies that make batteries.. Nimh or lipo's.. I doubt Traxxas makes their own batteries.. They are probably just a rebranded battery like just about everyone else out there.. I doubt Venom makes theirs either..

i agree with cenracer1, i think that traxxas doesn't make batteries by their own, at the same time i think traxxas committed to a high standard of safty and this is maybe the reason why they didn't recommended lipos for their brushless motors, so i guess that their batteries are good, but if you still worry get team orion packs or intellct as a second choice.

not sure if its a commitment to high standards of safety, Or just fear of lawsuits.. Since their cars are geared towards the novice as well as the seasoned hobbiest, they are taking the approach of staying out of the "high risk" battery market.. Since these cars can be run on Nimh batteries its a more prudent approach to let the beginners get their feet wet and decide on their own if they want to upgrade the batteries.. That way if something goes wrong, they cannot be blamed directly as the cause..

Yea I can see these cars/trucks are geared for the novice (at least out of the box) but I just want to make sure that the Traxxas branded batteries arent made by some crappy company and slapped with a Traxxas logo... Regardless who the cars/trucks are designed for Traxxas usually makes quality products so I assume the battery I bought isnt going to be a piece garbage after a few charges... I bought one brand new online and I should have it by tomorrow. Although I wont be able to tell the quality of it until I use it in my bandit and discharge/charge it a decent amount of times, Ill let you guys know my opinion of it after I test it out. If anyone knows for sure who produces these batteries for Traxxas I would be curious just to know. Thanks for your input guys

I have noticed that they have decent power and are built good. But they have a little shorter life than most other batteries I have tried. They are by no means crappy, but not great. IMO middle of the road, just meant to make the car RTR.
So I taped my hamster to the Pede..
