No go. Ideas?
I searched posts. I saw an opti drive reset? I dont know what that is. I've cycled through all the modes. Swapped the crystals in and out, plugged in all my channels. The steering servo will work, no matter what the throttle will not. I can see the esc flicker when im pulling or pushing the trigger, but the motor wont run. Im up for ideas. It ran fine last time i used it and the batteries were on a fresh charge.

sounds like you need to reset the esc...... try doing it without the servo for steering connected.....
Read your owners manual - duh :P
LOL. I did, but all i can find is the programming of modes, no master reset.
Directly from the 1/16 Slash VXL and 1/16 E-REVO VXL Manual:
"Setup Programming (Calibrating your ESC and transmitter)
Read through all of the following programming steps before you
begin. If you get lost during programming or receive unexpected
results, simply unplug the battery, wait a few seconds, plug the battery
back in, and start over.
1. Disconnect each of the motor wires between the ESC and the
motor. This is a precaution to prevent runaway when the speed
control is turned on before it is programmed.
2. Connect a fully charged battery pack to the ESC.
3. Turn on the transmitter (with the throttle at neutral).
4. Press and hold the EZ-Set button (A). The LED
will first turn green and then red. Release the
5. When the LED blinks RED ONCE.
Pull the throttle trigger to the
full throttle position and hold it
6. When the LED blinks RED TWICE.
Push the throttle trigger to the
full reverse and hold it there (C)."
It IS in your manual, you just have to read it. I look at the pictures all the time too lol
Ah, I searched and searched. I just found it, It helps to not skim and read page by page. even then I was just grouping this in with programming my modes. It took me a second to realize this was seperate. I'm gonna go give this a try.
No good. I went through the procedures and notta. The signal seems to come in to the esc, with a green flicker whether throttl e is reveresed or normal. I switched through each channel as well and the steering servo works regardless. Does this point to a bad engine?
Uh, the connectors off the motor? good enough to touch them to a regular battery? I tried with some "c" cell batteries I have. Nothing. Pretty sure the motor is shot. Looks like it might be brushless upgrade time.
I know I am a newbie, with this being my first post, but I had this happen yesterday and it was the throttle trim. Maybe make sure it is set at 0.
That it is and was, I've never touched throttle trim since I've had it.
Take your motor leads and touch them to your trucks battery pack. Just jam them in if your running the Traxxas connectors or Deans. The motor should scream! If it does not, then the problem is your motor. I had the Stock 380 brushed motor quit on me so I just bought a new one. The new one lasted a week and then I upgraded to VXL. Never had a motor/ESC issue since. The brushed 380 motors are garbage as far as I am concerned.
Yeah, thats what I did. At least a motor is cheap, but i've seen the brushless esc and motor combo's for like $90, so I think when I come back from my detachment Im gonna upgrade. Might go and get a 2.4 ghz set-up as well.
