Well, went to our local casino with some friends to see a good local band. I am not a gambler, but put a $20 into a penny machine, hit the wrong(RIGHT!!!!) button for max bet and walked away with $2200. I have about $700 of that burning a hole in my pocket. I have always wanted a Revo, but couldn't afford one. I do not want to spend all of the cash on one. I have a 1800kv castle clearance motor and an mmp.
I want to buy the brushed version and put in the mmp/1800 to run on 4s. I have a couple of ?'s.

What will I need to install the bl motor, and what is the difference partswise between the bl and brushed version?
Will the mmp be able to handle it on 4s?
Any absolute must have durability upgrades from the start?
If I keep it brushed, any heat issues on 4s for motors esc's?
I have an xtra link rx in case it comes with the am sys, but is 3ch a must have?
I will start searching now, but any insight will be greatly appreciated!

The difference between the brushed and ERBE is that the ERBE has 17mm hex hubs and the power system

Unless you're getting a killer deal on a brushed, in your case you should simply get the ERBE and save a lot of time, money, and effort.

The 17mm hex hubs is actually a necessity for upgrading rims and tires anymore. And the 2.4ghz radio is very nice over AM. Unless you do some modifications, the 3rd channel is useless on a E-Revo.

Going from dual motors to a single BL will "require" a different motor plate and cover (to keep debris out). The transmission and driveline is already brushless-ready.

Heat is going to be an issue with the stock dual-Titan motors no matter what. Most serious drivers burn theirs up within months, despite being careful. Weather and driving conditions play a big part. Once toast, that it - Titans are not repairable.


IMO - Stiffer springs (black & tan), stiffer shock oil (~55), and a swaybar set made the biggest improvements over stock.

thanks, Just wondering, is the 17mm conversion just a matter of a hex swap?
I have 17mm rim tire combos from my e-savage. So if I only need a motor plate, gear cover, and set of hexes, then sell the brushed elecs and tires(do not want the stock tires anyway), you can see where this would be a less expensive (around $200 less) option. Thats if the mmp can handle the stress... otherwise I will have to go for the erbe.

just buy an erbe roller and put yer stuff you already have on it. that'd be the best way I would think

The 17mm hex kit runs about $30. The "new" hex's have a 'dot' in the middle of each flat side for improved holding. Not sure if they'll work with Savage rims. The stock Talons are actually a pretty good all around tire for the money, but won't last forever.

If you buy ERBE, it has the 2200KV castle system and a warranty.

The Mamba Max Pro will not really work in the E-Revo by itself. We had one in a single-servo E-Revo with a Novak HV 6.5 and it ran hot, and the BEC simply can't handle the higher torque servo(s) without dropping voltage and cutting out the receiver. I think it will handle the 1518 motor fine, but running an external BEC will be required. We were able to mount the MMP using a filed-down TRX Mamba Monster mounting plate (TRX#5626) in the stock ESC location.

Also, the single motor mount plate is nice to keep it looking clean, but my friend found out that the increased size of the stock twin-motor mount will protect the motor in a rollover, since it sticks up higher off the chassis. Also, because it's larger than the single-motor mounting plate, it's a slightly better heatsink. It's up to you whether or not you replace it.

I get the feeling that the erbe is the better idea. I am leaning that way due to the mmp is not up to the task w/o a bec. I assume 2 spc 30c 6000's will be fine?
what wt shock and diff oils, and gearing come stock?
i have heard some have had durability issues with the drive line? is this with 4s or more, and will the 1512 1.5y 1800kv be a milder option if i gear up? 40mph is plenty 4 me.
im getting exited! maybe tomorrow will be the day!

Congradulations man my brother inlaw won over 20grand a few months ago and bought me and my wife a new car.As for the deccision i would get the erbe or look for the erbe roller.I just bought an erbe myself friday i am waiting inpatiently for it, it should be here whithin this week.

Hey Congrats! Nice truck! BTW I'm running Black / Tan with 55w shock oil, my son is running the blue /silver that came with the truck and 50w oil . we bash primarily offroad and either of those set ups seems to be working good for us. (but ours are brushed) Have fun!

Now that you've had a few day to wreck havok, what are your impressions?

My smaller trucks just seem frail compared to this. The truck is just so much more substantial. Although I ran some speed runs, top speed is not required to keep me interested unlike my other cars. I find my bashing areas must be much bigger. I like the tires more than I thought I would. It needs a sway bar for me.
