    Exclamation Racing Rustler

I took my rustler vxl to my off-road carpet track a couple days ago for practice and was surprised by it's performance. It was never tuned for racing because I usually used it for jumping at my house, and I ran traxxas' bfc goodrich tires in the rear with anachondas up front. I was able to keep up with and pass some of the tuned team associated buggies. Just wanted to share that and see what kind of race set-ups you guys are running. Thanks

Believe it or not, I took m rustler xl-5 carpet racing with stock everything and I was keeping up with those guys! So I'm just gonna stay with the stock gearing

Usually the rustler platform isn't used at my track for competitive racing so I thought that it was a slower design. I really had fun running it around the track.

Does anybody have a good race setup for their rustler?

I think alot of people extend their rustler chassis and make a competetive LCG slash...so it is still sort of a rustler.

A good setup for a race Rustler would be:

LCG Chassis - Xtreme Racing, etc.
    Aluminum Shock Caps
    Slash Rear Suspension Arms
    Front rims for the rear
Whatever tires are hot at your track.

    Here is mine:

    RCM Rustler
    MM Slash
    Sidewinder 'Pede

I'm running the vxl system with rpm a arms and stock towers. I'm using the big bores with the given silicon oil and basically everything eles is stock except ball bearings. I seem to have some unresponsive and slow steering. Does anybody know how to tighten up the steering?

Sounds like you either need a new servo saver or a new servo. Check the screw holding the servo saver on to make sure it is in all the way.

check or reset steering expo to 0??
I have a 1313 Ace servo, kimbrough hd servo saver, and bearings in the stock bellcrank. makes a world of difference.
Also helped to have 1-2* toe out at front wheels on tight track.

I think that the servo is just worn out. Its two years old and has had some heavy use
