    Received my new ERBE!

Hey guys. My ERBE finally came yesterday along with a few other necessities.

First, I wanted to thank the forum members for helping me compile a grocery list of items I needed to kick things off right. I'm brand new to this hobby, and I couldn't have done it without your help.

I'm very impressed with this truck so far. It's a lot of fun, even with the stock NiMH batteries.

The Thunder AC680 AC/DC charger has also worked very well thus far. I'll be buying lipo batteries within the next few weeks and will be able to take full advantage of this charger's capabilities. I do have one question though, when discharging the NiMH batteries, what current and voltage rates should I use? The charger has a max discharge rate of 2A and 25V.

Infrared temp sensor works as expected. Temps of the ESC and motor haven't peaked above 90F, and the batteries have been steady at 115F.

Haven't used the Castlelink yet, everything has been left stock. I haven't really looked into how to use it, but I'm assuming I plug the USB cable from my computer into the ESC itself? I ask because I haven't seen a mini USB port on the ESC. Do I need to remove the ESC from the truck to access the port?

Here are some pics of my new toys

    congrats, welcome to the club

For the castle link, you just unplug the esc from the reciever and plug it into the castle link and then the usb to your computer. Install the castle link software and it should see your esc when you plug it in. When you plug the esc wire into the castle link be sure the black wire is on the pin with the negative symbol.

    Great, thank you.

I've taken it out 3 times so far today and it's been a blast. Only managed to break the rear skid plate. It was a little wet and muddy, so when I brought it inside to clean it I thought nothing of the mud stuck in the rear between the upper and lower a-arms. Turns out it wasn't mud, but fresh dog crap instead........ lol

Candy76man is sooooo right. I just got my ERBE last week, upgrading from an SC10. Had no idea what I was missing. Then I finally go two 3S lipos and I about exploded in excitement. I really didn't know how awesome this was going to be. After driving for just a little bit and the car ended up flipping backwards multiple times, I went back to the hobby store and bought the wheelie bar. Now I just need to get a stiffer body (proline likely) that doesn't shake violently when you raise it up.

Oh yeah, you really need to use the Castlelink. I don't have one yet but will this week. Luckily the hobby store was nice enough to do this for me and it drives much better and brakes much better.

Thanks guys! With all this lipo talk and how awesome they are, I'm going purchase some batteries soon.... I would really like to buy 4 batteries, 2 2S and 2 3S lipos. I want options to run 4S, 5S and 6S, but I'm having trouble finding lipos with the same mah and c ratings from the same manufacturer. I know *******'s would give me these options, but I'd like to stay away from re-soldering connectors if at all possible. Plus I remember reading the ******* lipos require modifications to the battery compartment because the wire gauge is too large (except the ****'s?). Anyway, any help here would be appreciated.
