Thinking about running a center differential and was wondering if it will hold up to 5s?

No. The only center diff that really works in an ERBE is one made of a 8th scale buggy or truggy. And the only time you want to run a CD is when you're racing. For bashing it's unnecessary. This is just MHO.
    It's been fun. See ya.

    I have.

    Batteries: 5S (2S+3S) (5000 mAh, 45C)

    Tires: Proline Badlands

Wheels: Proline Mashers 3.8" with 1/2" offset

    Terrain: Sand (desert)

I went through 30 fully charged packs and the center diff is still holding (no damage, no leak, no nothing)

yes 87gn 500k is correct.i had one until it let loose and tore up my whole transmission.yes i was running on 6s tho but still even traxxas will tell you not to even use unless you are running on 4s it just wont hold up.

instead of a big white gear on the bottom of the transmission, there goes a differential in there that works like the front-rear ones. whichever side loses traction gets more speed

I have been using the centre diff (standard traxxas issue) on 5s for the past 6 months without any problems. I don't race but I use it because I think it occasionally saves the driveshafts on bad landings. I initially used kyosho 500,000 in the CD but found it too loose. I have since used some OFNA diff putty and got the balance just right for me.

I also have the TRX center diff, I have a trx from 1/10 to 1/16 and slash, havn't had a hitch, I run 5s in soft dirt it really helps with controlled accelration. I havn't had a rear diff problem since. I busted 2 rear diffs the first summer and none so far this summer!!
