    Off road optimization

I would like to off road modify one of my ERBEs as good as possible

Both when it comes to durability and best performance for off road driving

So I have some questions after having read through FAQs here and the manual etc

are these mentioned below okay mods in combination with each other or should some be left out and do you have other tips

    (2) #5656 Summit Driveshaft, long
    (4) #5654 Summit CV Stub axle
    (4) #5653 Summit diff output CV drive

    (1) #5333R Extended Wheelbase arms

Is the (1) #5498 Sway Bar kit for racing on road at high speeds or will it also do justice to a off road set up

    RPM suspension arms

    RPMs rear suspension upgrade

Should I also install the long travel rockers and lift the ride hight in combination with the above

Should I install the steering upgrade also that comes with the truck or is that meant for high speed on road

    thanks guys

Forget about the long travel rockers, they make the suspension very soft. Good for crawling, bad for fast running and jumping.
There's no reason not to go with the steering upgrade, more steering is always better.

Ill share my setup. Been using this for a long time and love it for landing the massively high jumps that I take.

    P2 Rockers.
Traxxas aluminum pushrods and toe links.
RPM front arms and rear true tracks.
Variable Damping Pistons, Offroad Position, 70 wt oil.
Stiffest available springs in rear, second stiffest in front, a lot of preload.
Traxxas steel CVDs with extended drive cups.

Yes, use long throw steering stop that comes with truck.
Using while stupid may cause serious injury.

    Thanks guys

how about changing the ride height of the truck it self
by mounting the push rod in the inner hole in the lower suspension arm

    do you also do that

If I order this regarding Traxxas steel CVDs with extended drive cups , is this it then.

    (4) #5653 Summit diff output CV drive
    (1) #5333R Extended Wheelbase arms

And what are the partnumbers for stiffest (rear) and second stiffest (front) springs

Who makes Variable Damping Pistons, I presume must be set for Offroad Position with 70 wt oil.

And are there partnumbers for the RPM front arms and rear true tracks... got a little confused when searching the web

    And finally :-)

shock oil.. how high viscosity oil for jumping moderate in the nature , not ramps or anything but due to terrain, small tops and so

    Thank ever so much

With variable damping pistons, made by Traxxas, 60 weight oil if it's cold outside or 70 weight oil if it's hot outside. This is what works well for me. But your preference might be different.
    It's been fun. See ya.

I used to run LT rockers, Summit springs (Double Yellow (tra5648) up front and double orange (tra5649) in the back), VDP kit piston #2, 70wt oil but it was just too soft.

I'm back to P2 rockers with Summit springs, push rods in inner hole and it fits my driving style perfectly. I only bash.

Also using extended wheelbase arms. Summit shafts waiting to be fitted.

The variable damping kit is a must. Just make sure you follow the instructions and use the off-road position.

Mounting the pushrods in the inner most holes is great for jumping. If you are still bottoming out with that and the stiff springs... you can go for the p3 purshrods and rockers. It's just a little bit more progressive which stiffens everything up a little more.

I will say this... I never though a raised "truggy" could handle this well. I find that if i use alot of preload i will flip my truck to quickly.

    P3 rockers
    P3 pushrods
    (F) blue and 70; pushrods in middle location
    (R) purple and 80; pushrods inside location
Variable Dampening Kit Piston 3 (smallest holes)
a little bit of preload on all springs

    thanks again ...

Thanks again , but do I need any other fittings from RPM or is the above sufficient

I will try to stick with the stock P2 rockers first

    Hey everyone,
did anyone one of you ever tried a setup with P3 pushrods and P2 rockers.....just got my new set of traxxas black pushrods and noticed that they are P3, silly me i didnt realize it. I just thought that i could use them with the P2 rockers and mount them on the outer hole of the lower aarms which gives about the same height (raises that truck a little)when using stock pushrods mounted in the center hole of the aarms.

By using this setup P3 pushrods (mounted in the outer hole), P2 rockers i think gives a ride height setup that comes between this two: using stock rockers and pushrods 1) mounted in the centerhole and 2) mounted in the inner hole

so How do you think will it perform? has anyone ever tried this? i have not driven my truck yet so i cant tell.

It shouldn't hurt anything at all. All you are doing is adding more ride height "potential".
