    Project "Let's Upgrade Everything" ......

Got my new Leopard 1300KV Motor & Sea King 120A ESC installed tonight. Can't wait to run it on Saturday. I will post some GoPro Vids and see if we have a solution to the problem.
    also....
    Upgraded all the water lines
    Installed 60mm Aluminum Cooling Jacket
    Opened Up the Water Pickup
New Grim Racer Brass Prop 42 X 55
Drilled out the fitting on top of the rudder
    Sharpened the Turn Fins
Increased the Water Exit Fitting on the side of the boat.

Next upgrade will be a Dual Pickup Rudder just like Mr Priami Installed....Looks Killer J

    Anyways, here are some pics....

What do you mean it wasn't successful? He said he could not believe the difference and then listed all the upgrades and changes he made.

any chance you could try your setup with just the new motor and the std esc?
would be nice if someone could weed out the actual problem it would save alot of people money?

I don't have the stock ESC, I just sold the whole stock setup tonight and I am still $65 ahead after buying my new stuff so if this ESC decides to go pop I will get the 240A. Better then sending it back to Traxxas and having no boat for another 2-3 weeks
I wonder if he had the issue with the ESC because of the Stock Motor, The motor I installed is only going to pull 56A Max
    Only time will tell eh?

Hopefully you solved it DJ !! Keep us posted. Traxxas should give a partial refund, maybe a gift certificate for future puchases !! Looks like the one on youtube used the stock motor...I don't get it, if it will only draw 56a max.. why wouldn't a 120a esc be enough ?? I would like to know if the Leopard 1300kv will be just fine with the stock ESC. Hey DJ, what size tubing is that and where did you get it from ??

The Leopard Motor was $54 (i guess they come in a variety of colors becasuse I thought I ordered green but got orange instead, I don't care as long as works

    ....ESC was $76
    http://www.toysonics.com/hobbywing-s...-for-boat.html

Got the motor in 4 days and the ESC in 2 days

Hey Yankphan, a gift certificate or something would be nice but I highly doubt it, all they will let me know is I voided the warranty, lol

The yellow tubing is for nitro planes, not exactly sure of the size but here is a comparison pic next to stock stuff...It has some writing on the side of it that says TYGON F-40 - 40 - A
The 3 different Hobby Stores I went into had it in stock so its not uncommon

    I don't and I don't thinks its posted anywhere.
filmmaker may know, he mentioned it in one of his posts. Give Traxxas a call and see if they can give you all the specs on the motor and esc.

do you think running the new esc with the stock motor would solve the overheating problem or would you need to upgrade both

I'm thinking the motor....from what I understand the esc's aren't hot. Sensor on the motor is tripping. Leopard 1300kv

Hahaha, I plan on it. I want to see what's she's got now that I can run it without fear of the 4 minute threshold. It's supposed to be a dead calm & sunny 72 tomorrow here in AZ. The ducks aren't going to enjoy me tearing up their pond

from what I have heard the stock ESC is rated at 80a continuous and 300a burst. my guess is that is based on the working average.
the reason why the guy in the vid had problems was because he set the ESC up incorrectly. I was in contact with him over youtube and he put too much timing in the ESC, more timing=more amp draw. he had it set to 8 on timing, thought it was "auto"
    Hobbywing's site
I would recommend staying with the stock settings or even taking some timing out.
