matched sets are great (i got the 7 cell matched in style F). also they have a 4200 on sale right now, they cant be bought matched, but they are awesome as well

BTW, i have read the 4600 are better then the 5000

I would go lipo but just check your temps and treat it like its your baby and you should be fine! If not it could have been a factory defect, battery defect and sooooo on!But I Like the venom Nimh even tho everyone talks smack about ther nimh but my 5000 is a blast!!!Just once again check your temps and make sure everything is in place and you should be fine! A nimh in my opinion shouldnt just be thrown out of the equation you should give both batteries love lol!

i'm sure your not getting the hole story with just those pictures i bet he did something or shorted the wires or even hit something! I've had three lipos and the first one was puffed from the hobby shop and it still runs stong you just have to take care of them!

i will say this, i have a possible issue with 1 cell, but they are going to take care of it.

    BUT...

the batteries are like night and day from the battery that comes with the truck as far as performance and length of the run. even the 4200 is silly fast.

Nimh are great but I spent the same amount on a charger from traxxas and a venom 5000 nimh and realized I could have went lipo for same price which I just did and love it! Racers edge 3s lipo(which 2s is prob what you want for bashing)45 bucks and a dynamite passport ac/dc charger for 60 bucks and ooooo am I so happy. But the venom nimh I enjoy for bashing as well it just doesnt stay consistent like lipo batts do

IMO the biggest difference between a nimh and lipo is that when a lipo does have an issue and vents it is much more violent than when a nimh pack vents. That being said I think a nimh is more likely to vent than a lipo because in general terms what is considered general use and maintenance of the two batteries is so different. With lipos just about everyone uses an LVC to prevent over discharge and uses a balancer to ensure cell voltages stay balanced. For some reason people think nimh packs dont need or deserve the same precautions but in fact they do. The problem is to balance a nimh packs requires a discharge tray and a pack built in a SxS configuration. Also so many people will over discharge a nimh pack. Because so many people who use nimh do not or can not balance their packs and tend to over discharge and over charge them it seems I see more reports of nimh packs venting or having issues than I do lipo packs. IMO it all boils down to both batteries demand a level of care and if you dont give them the respect they deserve you will have issues. I think the level of respect and care nimh packs get is often under stated they should receive the same care and handling lipos do but since they dont they are more prone to having issues.
