A brief spark is normal when you connect the second battery pack, but not like that. Did you extend any wires or use non-traxxas plugs?

What batteries are you using? Sounds like a bad ESC.

The little black tabs that have a negative/positive holes. It's the piece that plugs into the batteries. They are asking if you are using the one's that came with the truck or did you put some other kind of plug on. There's no way to plug them in the wrong way so I would think the ESC is dead. I just sent mine into Castle and turn around time was 1 week so that's not to bad. Call them Monday then they will give you a RMA number to send it in.

it's normal to spark when you plug it in. those are the caps charging up. turn it on, and if it's functional, then it's fine.

However, if you're trying to plug it in and it's arcing, that can indicate a bad BEC.

Not really, you could open the case up by following the instructions on the castle website but I doubt you'd know what you were looking at or for- the connectors shouldnt have melted though, sounds like a dead short inside the esc so nothing you can do, gotta send it in Im affraid. Castle will take care of you though, they have great customer service ( theres a form on their website under the support section ).

    What batteries were you using?
Make any changes to gearing or the general setup>
Do you have a castlelink programmer to adjust the esc via your PC?

Just sounds like a random failure really, it happens occasionally.

AOD you need to start a class for de-newbification. With test's on Fri. LOL People think they is nothing to this hobby. I have learned, & am still learning alot. When my Maxx ESC died I had steering only. No forward or reverse. Luckly no flames & fire. My Revo ESC I had to take the on - off switch out, & wire together.
Would you go flip my truck back over??

I've considered holding pop-quiz's before, but I dont think it'd work too well really, lol.

I have however been over my website and added new stuff recently to make understanding everything more easily- such as adding a new 'lipo chargers & charging section' to the tutorials page & completely reorganized the 'useful links' page so that things are easier to find - including descriptions for each link so that they have some meaning now. Im always open to suggestions though if people spot a question I havent addressed well...

I would chalk it up to people not knowing how forums work and don't take the time to use the 'ever-so-helpful' "SEARCH" feature!!! What's funny is people search on google all day every day because they aren't interacting with someone directly, but when they get on a forum, they want to ask personal situational questions and hope to get an answer from an actual person that will be directed to their situation with diagrams and pictures!

The search feature would be a lot more useful if it actually worked right.. since the move to the "new" forum, it only ever seems to find a handful of relevant results.

I think the new forum software relies on threads being tagged to help find them / relevant threads when a word or term is entered into the search feature. Lets all go on a tagging spree.....
