Top Speeds for the Brushed Versions?

How many have the brushed versions?
being they would only be about $170 shipped from Tower, I'm thinking of getting one with the 550 motor
anyone with speed runs that can give me an idea of what speeds to expect?
    thank you!

Probably the same speed found in the brushed 1/16 Slash. That's my guess.

When I was talking to a Traxxas rep at I-Hobby, the was saying it should be close to that of the VXL on 7.2 volts, but won't take the 14.4v set up.

    that's decent speeds on Nimh
and I know the stock esc can take 3s
so to me, this will be the one I'll buy from Tower

I dont think the XL5 can handle 11.1 volts. Its only rated to 9cell nimh... maybe it can but I have to think the motor would burn up and the ESC would also get extremely hot.

    It will take it..
keep in mind the motor will only pull the amps it needs to run, and on this small car it should do very well
you could be right about the motor, but then again.. a friend of mine tried one of my 3s packs in his rusty with the same motor and it was nuts.. the motor got very warm but it did not melt

I know for sure the Titan motor cant handle that kind of voltage. It just wont last. Even an 8 cell nimh is too much for a Titan. Though I have no doubt it would be fast till it died. They wont melt, they will just stop working. I suppose if you could keep it cool, it might not be a problem but as far as I can imagine, theres NO way to keep a Titan 12t cool on 3S lipo... But its worth a try... its just a titan... kindof disposable.

How the Titan 550 will perform or how much voltage it can take may be totally different in the 1/16th scale platform compared to what we have come to expect from it in the 1/10th scale trucks.

I've heard of the XL5's taking that if you're running much lower gearing and/or a higher turn motor, like in a crawler or scaler. Problem is thought, these cars will be running the XL-2.5 for an ESC and it shouldn't take that.........

I'm with Dad and Filmmaker on this one, the Rally is much smaller, lighter, and uses touring car tires, those three things should allow it to be much happier in the Rally (and to some extent, the up coming brushed Summit) that it would be in the 2wd trucks.

I think with the less weight most of us if not all are going to be surprised just how fast this brushed version will be

I agree its going to be fast. And I think teh titan has a much better chance of survival in a rally than any other vehicle it comes in. My point is that a titan on 3S is not going to live, even in a lighter vehicle. I hope im wrong, time will tell, the only way to know is to try, we'll find out... and all the other comments about how no one can be sure. Its just my opinion. Thats all.

Back about a year or more ago there was a member here running a Titan on 3s in a Rustler, I forget what speed control he was using. He claimed with proper4 break in and maintenance he was getting 6 months or more out of a Titan. How many runs he put on the motor in that 6 months is anyone's guess.

Like I've said before, a friend of mine ran his Rusty on 3s with this motor and it was a bullet
esc ran cool motor was maybe 130-140* after 10min
but who knows my mini may melt on 3s after only a couple min?

No doubt... I was wondering if maybe the brushed rally will breath some new life into 540 modified motors. Can you imagine a good 9t in a rally... it would be crazy.

HMM, I have some trinity 17t e-maxx 550 mod motors, and a mmp is already in my rally. Wonder how fast it would go on 4s...
I think all I would need is a series connector, the motor mount, and some stiffer springs to try it. I figure those motors could push some pretty tall gearing.
