Can you run a Velineon system on 4s lipo?

It is not recommended but it can be done. You have to turn off the LVC and then the ESC will arm on 4s. It is over the rated limits of the system and heat become a very real issue. If you leave the LVC on there is a high voltage protection circuit that keeps the ESC from arming. I would personally stay away from 4s on a stock VXL system. We tried it on my son's MERV and it got really hot really fast.

From personal experience on this, i would say dont do it unless you are ready and willing to replace your motor. Sure, it will run for a few days perhaps, but it will shorten the vxl motors lifespan dramatically. (Mine lasted about 3 or 4 days)

Honestly, just stick to 3s. If you want more, get a bigger motor.

So the limiting factor is the motor, not the ESC?

i would say the esc is more limiting than the motor...... i plan to run my motor on 4s, but i have a mamba max pro now, because i ran series nimh and fried my stock esc, and the motor was fine.... it is pretty hard to kill a motor unless you overheat it and the magents fall apart

Sounds like the titans, I hear about how titan 550s are terrible and the dye like flys, but Ive had mine for 6 months and 75+ runs, and its still fine.

I would not run 4s at all in the vxl system, its not made for it plain and simple. And running lipos without the low voltage cutoff is just asking for trouble. Honestly why would you want to run 4s? I run 3s in my summit and its crazy fast! To the point of almost becoming uncontrollable. Have you even tried 3s yet? If not just go with 3s, you will not be disappointed.
