If you found a 1/8th body that looked like a nascar truck you could easily do this yourself

A lenghtened Rustler chassis like the STRC kit would make a nice low cog steet truck. As for bodies, if you buy aftermarket bodies you can leave the front, sides and rear a little, don't cut it all the way. This will leave you with some sort of air dam around the body, which will look like NASCAR trucks.

Out of sightis talking about any SC body and just not cutting it down, cut out the wheel wells and just a little around the edges so the body hugs the ground. I was talking about how a lot of 1/8th bodys fit the slash well, like dirt late model bodys and rally car bodys to name two.

Well the COG on the stock slash chassis is pretty darn high, not good for a road-on car. With a LCG kit I think the slash would be great on-road.

I think a good question to the OP is, why are you waiting for Traxxas to build you something you can easily build yourself? It's more fun to build it then buy it RTR

Personally, I think the Slash should be raced off road as it is designed after an off road race truck. (Mods, please don't shoot me, its just my opinion!)
However, I see there are a lot of guys that like to run these trucks as fast as they can go on the street, which is cool, until you need to turn.

Yeah that's well and good until it's 0 degrees outside there is a foot of snow on the ground and no indoor off road tracks. Then you slap a 1/8th touring car body on, slam it to the ground and go race it indoors on carpet.

Yeah, I think when the time comes I may get a second Slash and lower it for just such a purpose.

I was actually interested in getting a 2x4 brushless slash for on road use also... I have an ERBE so I figured, that since that is my main off road truck, a slash can easily be used for drifting/road. I like the rally but I know it is too small and too similar to my ERBE for my liking. Anyhow, would this be a wise decision? Also, would there be any reason to get the 4x4 slash for like $20 more than the 2x4 vxl? I have to imaginf the 2x4 would be more fun to drift with.

the 2wd is a lot of fun to drive, much more fun then the 4wd imo. And yes if you lower the truck and stiffen the suspension enough it will perform on road.

If you drop your suspension so that the skid plates are about a centimeter off the ground, even with the stock chassis, it is a pretty capable on-roader, as long as you don't have super grippy rear wheels (I used some bald stockers)
It still flips every once in a while though, but I could imagine with a LCG chassis, it would be fine.
You have to run your suspention real stiff, first I tried using really soft springs and just letting it droop down low, but it just rolls... and rolls.... and rolls and rolls and rolls.
but then I put some fuel tubing spacers in my old ultra shocks, and crammed them with preload, and it is a-okay.
the easy thing is, I only have to change the shocks, and the rear wheels, and I am ready for drift acton!
there is a large walkway (about 500 feet long, and 40 feet wide) made of smooth masonry bricks down the hill from my dorm... THAT is alot of fun!
    I accidentally my whole truck.

Jang's backslash proves that the Slash can handle very well. You take the same thing with a different body stiffen the suspension a little more and you have a competent on road machine

Proline has 4 or 5 2.2 street tires and that's what they all are.

    http://prolineracing.com/1-10-truck-tires-street

The bottom picture has Speed Hawgs in the front, and Road Hawgs in the back. Top pic had Road Hawgs all around. It looks like the wheels are just Proline dyeable white dish wheels. Personally I would get them and put them on RPM's chrome revolver wheels, would look sweet.
