My Nitro Street

Hello Guys,

Last month, I got this chassis for free from a friend of mine and I'm going to build a Nitro Street with it...



I almost have all the parts (brand new), and I'm only using the chassis from that truck...

I was missing a few important parts until today, when I drove two hours to a local hobby shop and found the antenna mount, the motor mount, a complete set of wheels, the front shock tower and the original body with the decals!!!



I paid like $130 for all the parts that you see on the pictures... And, to be honest, I'm very happy that I found all of this...

The next step is to have the chassis anodize in black and start building it... I still don't know which paint scheme I'm going to use, I don't want to mess that unique body, so, I'm open to any suggestions...

that's cool that you found all that stuff at your LHS! That body is hard to find along with the stickers. Sorry about the parts I was supposed to get in contact with you about. Was one of those outta sight/outta mind things I got caught up in.This Should be for a great project. I look forward to seeing some progress on it. Yeah! The old guy told me he had a big box of vintage parts in the basement, so I have to go back some day and check it out...

That body is hard to find along with the stickers.

Me too! A few years ago, when I wasn't into RC and a lot younger, I was fascinated with these pictures and I've never imagined that I could have one now...

He didn't have any more of those bodies did he?

I'm afraid that was the last body, wheels, front shock tower and motor mount he had... He only has a few stickers left which I'll buy the next time I go there and a few of those silver wheels for the SledgeHammer...

I got set from eBay (philshobbyshop) like two weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for them... I think they are still being made by Traxxas... I also saw a complete set a the LHS but I hope the ones I bought will arrive soon...

I just realized that I forgot to ask if he had the battery retainer, I guess I'll have to drive two more hours next weekend...

Got home and the stock tires were waiting for me...

Wow, I can't believe 6 months passed since my last update on this project... I have to find more time to work on my RCs...



So, this is how it looks today... The new TRX .15 engine is on it's way tomorrow, and I have everything to finish it...



The chassis was anodized in black and is the only thing that is used, everything else is brand new, never used before...

It looks amazing! I have an old Traxxas catalog that I got when I first started in the hobby, and this car is still in there. I cannot wait to see that new body painted and mounted!

Thanks! I have doubts on how to paint the body, I don't want to ruin it as I don't have experience painting bodies... I think I'll go with the red scheme as the pictures above... One thing I noticed yesterday is that my body doesn't have a wing like in the pictures above...

Yes, I'm alive! But, busy as usual... And, I got your email and I haven't forgotten about our deal, but the CNC guy keeps stalling me... My carbon fiber Fiero is delay too about this...

I don't know how much money was put into it, and brand new ones are rare, so, I can't compare prices... But the only old thing on it is the chassis, so, it's pretty much new... The air filter was a nice touch, the original air filter for the .12 engine was like that, but it doesn't fit on a .15 carburator, so, I had ot use this one that's pretty much the same with a rubber plug... The only thing is missing for this project is to paint the body, but, that's another story...

The body is still clear, I don't have the skills to paint it, so I guess it will stay that way for a long time...

I'm not a fan of bodies, I prefer to look at the car itself, so, that's why I don't show the bodies on my videos...

And, I found something that was missing on this car, will post some pics when it arrives...

Yes! All my vintage trucks are shelf queens... In fact, almost every truck in my collection is a shelf queen...

Even your summits, erevos, mervs, slashes?

The Summit was run only once, I broke both differentials (known issue of the first batch) at that time after 5 minutes of runtime, fixed it, never run it after that... Slash/Slayer, not my type of truck... Sometimes I run the Nitro Revo/T-Maxx/4TEC 3.3, sometimes the Nitro Stampede and the Rustler/Stampede VXL... For the past 2 years, the only truck that I run almost weekly is the 1/10 ERBE and I love it... All the other ones are on the shelf, most of them were never run or have less that 30 minutes on them... I like to build them more than running them you know...
