    Question RD Racing Products....Is anyone

Actually using any of their hop ups? I just broke a rear A arm and ordered a pair with the titanium pins from them. In hindsight I brought up RD and Powerline sites and put the rear A arms pics side by side and the Powerline really look a lot better. The Powerline are a buck more and I don't think the come with the pins but they sure look stronger.

About 70% of the people that own nitro Rustlers, sports, or stampedes, and are on this forum own RD parts... They are very strong, and are made of a better aluminum than Powerline's parts. You can also get them in four colors, not just purple.

BTW, IAMI, on the message board, is part owner of RDRP.

WOW Tazz.. You need to check out www.powerlineracing.com and get your facts straight!!

Powerline parts are 6061 Aluminum just like RD..
And come in 2 colors Blue and Purple

I hate it when people just make stuff up in their head..

Well I'm going on a camping vacation starting this weekend and the sport with the patched up A arm is coming with me. True off roading. LHS's didn't have the rears in stock. Cross bar out at the wheel end cracked and is patched with some 3M appliance adhesive and a nut and bolt instead of suspension pin. Guess I'll have to wait until I get back to see if the RD arm holds up to my bashing (or driving LOL ) as I doubt if they will get here in time. They haven't acknowledged my order yet, but I don't know if they do that.

OK... But their site still only shows purple parts.

The rear a-arms from powerline are made of 2 parts, and they only have one possible shock position. Those two things alone would make me not buy them.

Sorry Tazz.. I didnt mean to sound like a jerk..

Actually Powerline rear arms have 3 parts..
    1. The Rear Arms
    2. Cross brace (which is held on the arm by 2 screws)
    3. Shock mounting plate (which is held on the arm by 2 screws)

Man.. at my hobby shop the powerline rear arms run $19.95 and are well worth the money.. They hold up great.. But so does RD rear arms..

Really? I would like to see that. Do you have a picture for us to see? You know, I would have replaced it for free, but I got no email from you.

Anyone else "break" a RD Racing a arm??

I certainly have not been able to.

Seems like you would have to hit alum arms really, really hard for them to crack.

That is not always the case. I have saw parts that cost around $250,000.00 (1/4 mill) dollars fail.
First let me tell you I have worked with allot of differant metals for many years.
Take aluminum plates (sheets). The aluminum is melted to liquad form then poured into dies after going through a seris of rollers to get the thickness, width and lenght needed to make the plate. If one piece of a foreign object even down to 1/1000000 (one millionths of an inch) gets into the aluminum or any metal for that matter. It can cause a defect. The area around the defect can or may cause the plate to be weak around the area of the foreign object.
Say now that you machined a part (A arm) from the section of the plate that has the defect. This will make the part defective. It may take a electron microscope to see the defect. Still that area of the part will fail before the rest. If it fails around the area where the hinge pin goes. Then even a small bump could bust or break the part.
You should see the process that is used to make Turbine engine blades. That is the purest metals known to man.
No one can say that every part they make is 100 % perfect. Well unless they have many millions of dollars in equipment to test the grain of every metal part they make. And I honestly do not believe that any RC part manufacture is going to spend that much on the recourses needed to do such testing. If they did you would likely be paying $500 for a set of A arms.

Well bye bye till the 19th. Hope the RD arms are waiting for me when I get back. Where do they ship them from?? We'll see how they stand up to the mutiple cartwheels I always seem to pull. My record is 7 full cartwheels. It's a long story so I won't bore you. Vacation and nitro do mix.
