I don't want to sound mean or anything but why not a rechargable one?...sure have saved me money in the long run...for $.20 more you can get a tower rechargable one...

Anyways the "D" sized one is .25 more volts more powerful...

    HI,
I use a Hobbico glow ignitor (c cell) and have had no trouble starting my rustler. I'm not sure if the d-cell has more power than the c-cell since they both are 1.5 volts. Maybe the D-cell last longer because it's bigger and holds the juice longer but,I'm not really sure

Well not sure if this is any help to you but, hopefully it's some help.

    Peace

In my opinion, the only way to go is the rechargeable ones.

But if you have to go with one of those go with the D cell.

the c cells have 1.2 volts the d cells have 1.5 volts...I only know this from my prior existance in electric r/c's...a 7.2 volt pack has 6 "c" type cells so 7.2 divided by 6 is 1.2.

Maybe the D cell has more mAh?...I'm not sure...I would recremend a rechargable one

Oh I didn't realize that there was a .25 more volts on a d cell the ones I got kicking around here say the same volts on the c-cell and d-cell but there cheap ones.

Like Speedy pede2 and IAMI said go with rechargeable ignitorglow. Thats what Mine is and it's nice just to plug it in when needed instead of buying batteries all the time.

thats true....except that an alkaline C cell will have 1.5 volts, a nicad will have 1.2 volts. so if he uses an alkaline ignitor, it is .3 volts more....but i doubt it makes a bit of difference.

this is the nominal voltage, but fully charged nicads can be more than 1.2 volts. I also do combat robots (battlebots, ya know) and we charge our nicads so hard that they peak a tad over 1.7 volts. this isnt the best thing for them, and i have exploded a few cells..but for the first 1/3 of the match your bot loves it.

the fact a d cell is larger than a c cell people have always believed the myth that the voltage is different.

it is not the voltage is the same the size of the voltaic layer is increased and allows the battery to be used in different purposes nad rated only by the products that they ae used in. but the fact that the voltaic layer is increased in the d cell the charge from the manufacturer often last longer. to make a long story short get the

    ofna d cell ignitor

    Might I suggest this:

    http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXXB72&P=7

    It's what I use.

It is rechargeable, but if I run low on juice or forget to charge, I can pop in an Alkaline battery for a temporary fix.

So it's both in one, and costs less then most recharable only sticks.

And if the Nicad cell ever dies I can replace it again saving my replacement cost.

You can get a Hobbico Hot Shot 2 Super Glo-Starter for $12.99. That has 5000 mah. That is cheaper than it would cost to get the Ofna and then buy batteries for it. We use Hot Shots and they work great.

Get the best of BOTH worlds...
    Buy the alkaline one.
Then buy some nimh rechargeable batteries.
Standard ones. Not too expensive and you can have a set of the nimh for normal use and toss a set of duracells in your toolbox as backups.
Costco ha a nice set of panasonic nimh aa and aaa batteries. 4 aa and 2aaa batteries and charger for 40 bucks. The COOL thing about these is that the sets coem with an adapter that you slip a aa into to make it into a dcell. if I remember right they are 1300 or 1800 ma. I havent tried yet, but I beleive with the glow ignitor I have, which is the nicad version, I can still use alkalines. It comes apart and I can just toss another battery in if need me.

    Hope this helps a bit...
