    A modified Vette has a beter 0-60 than one of the Blue Angel Jets!!!

    No I'm serious. The Vette had like 880 HP, though, with a super. The car had a better 0-60, but top speed, that's a completely different story. If I asked my dad, he could tell me what show it was. It was on the speed chanell.

    A jet engine needs some time to fire up, whereas the corvette has a normal engine. Btw, the difference was like a 100th of a second.

    First, the car tested its 0-60 (it was not a head to head race). Then the jet tested its 0-60. In the end the Vette barely won.

    that was probably thumb work there if the vette barley one and they didnt go head to head than the times werent the sameit could be a little off or somehting.......i think they should race hed to head. thatd be funny to see at a drag strip lol

    Dude jets have bad acceleration!!! I went to an air show at Luke Air Force Base. There I saw a 2003 Viper beat 2 of the Air Force Thunderbirds. These Vipers were stock out of the factory. One version was the street legal one. The other was a racing version made at the factory especially for racing.

    BuggyPower is right. The comparison is featured in "Vette vs. Jet", pg85 in the June 2002 Motor Trend.

    The 802hp, twin-turbo Lingenfelter accelerated faster and beat the Hornet in the 1/4 mile. Once ~160mph came around, the jet was far ahead of the Lingenfelter.

    The article noted that the Hornet has a 0-60 time of 3.57. From what I see, basically anything around 3200lbs with more than 500 horsepower and a close-ratio six-speed transmission could beat it to 60mph.
    With a tailwind, a 2003 Viper (normally 3.85sec) could pull 3.57. Same with Ferrari 550s, Shelby Cobra 427 S/Cs, etc.

    Like people have posted before, it takes a while to get those jets to spool up and get going, but once they're going, they're really going.
    It's similar to putting a large turbo on a smaller engine, it takes a lit bit to get past the turbo lag and start getting good boost.

    thats strange about jets have slow acceleration, i just saw a jet powered car run 300 mph in the quarter mile in 5 secs a few weeks ago, i seriously doubt a stock vette or viper supercharged or not can run that quick.

    this is off the cars but this guy had the fastest motor bike in the world it was a set of handle bars a seat wheels and 2 F-16 engines it got to 290 mph and took off that was the last time the driver woz seen alive he came down burnt to a crisp
