Just yesterday my Traxxas 4 Tec stopped going in reverse for no reason, the only things i have done to it is to put ball bearings in and change the motor, can someone please tell me whats going on cause i dont have a clue.

now u got me worried... im gonna get bearings on saturday or sunday... and i MIGHT get an ESC but not a motor cuzz im not sure on which yet...

maybe on of the speed gems...

check that the resistors are connected properly, and that no wires are loose, it will be your MSC that is causing you the problem.

What kind of motor did you install?

It's not possible for the bearings to prevent the car going into reverse. MSC's do need regular maintenance to clean the contacts inside. It's possible the contacts are dirty/pitted and need to be serviced and not making contact for reverse.

On the other hand, if you installed a 12-turn motor the MSC's probably toast.

its not the bearings, most likely its the msc. bearings are a good mod and increase performance. the msc wears out easily so im guessing its that, try cleaning it orr for better performance get an esc

dont they sell one way bearings? but those are for the pros, and i wouldnt expect that your lhs or tower would stock them noprmally unless you special order 'one-way bearings'.

only thing i no they use one way bearings for is pullstarts for nitro engines. i think they use them in diffs. to but im not sure

its a Team Orion orbital 2 Mach mod if thats any help, I have a traxxas ESC which came with the car, could that have f*cked up? please tell me, cos not having reverse is a right ****er

Another thing....., the ESC has the red light and i can hear the motor making a slight noise when i put it on full reverse yet no action, come on people someone must know what the **** is wrong

I would read your E.S.C. manual and see if your unit came w/ a optional reverse feature, mine does but it is a un needed feature for most esc units

Q2, The ball bearings probably have nothing to do with the malfunction, what could be the problem is the motor however. How many turns is the Orion mod motor you have? The Traxxas XL-1 ESC is only rated to handle up to a 17 turn mod motor. The Techs at Traxxas told me that it will handle a 16 turn but you have to gear it way down, about 2 teeth lower than stock, that would be a 26 tooth pinion gear since the stock one is 28 tooth. It is possible you fried the reverse function on the Traxxas ESC running that hot mod motor with the stock gearing.

Jonyboy107, try one of the racing stock motors such as Trinity's P2K or the Green Machine Pro 3. These are great motors and even though they are "stock" motors, they are way, way faster than the Stinger motor that comes with the car. You can also try one of the mild mod motors such as a 17 T Speed Gems Sapphire or a 17 Turn Double Monsters of Touring motor (both by Trinity). I have tried all of these motors in mine and all work very well. The 17 turn motors work well with the stock pinion too. I also have one of the XTM Sportsmen ESCs, the one without reverse. For 45 bucks, it's an exceptional value and can be raced.

if your motor sounds like it wants to work and is making noise then take it out, clean it and give it new brushes, then try that. if not that then maybe its you esc

What kind of controller do you have? if it is an MSC just replace it with an ESC.

if it stoped going in revers im jeusing that it slowed down some in forward so im going to give u everthing that i have throw it away j/k its a good car but i think that your gearing is to tight put a pice of notebook paper inbetween the gears and then turn the pull it out the teeth sould gust barly make a howl in the paper it they tear the paper there to tight try it after that if its still broken then i dont know i like my rustler alot more than my 4-tek so i dont pay much attenion to it its sitting in my room striped of all its pars including the tiers so thats my storie
