    Question Connecting Rod Question

I ordered a new piston and sleeve, as well as a new wrist pin and clip. I had previously taken my engine apart, mostly just out of curiousity after I lost compression, and did not pay attention to which way the connecting rod was installed. Which direction is the channel on the rod supposed to face? I suspect towards the clutch/carb side of the engine, but I would like to know for sure so I can get it right when I rebuild.

On a side note, if anyone knows where I can find break in procedures that I might print, please let me know. I bought my rustler used and I have no manual for it. Maybe the piston and sleeve come with a set of break in instructions..

    Thanks in advance

The channel goes toward the bearings and crank shaft, so does the clip on the piston... however, the new conrods do not have channels...

Here is your break in instructions...

umm.. Why don;t the new rods have channels? Aren;t the channels supposed to aid in lubing the bearing and crankshaft? Has it been determined that it is ineffective?

My rod is in good shape, so I'm not replacing it at this time. Thanks for the tip on the wrist pin clip. I was pretty sure it went on the other side, which also means I had my old piston turned 180 from where it should have been.

The new con rod has a hole on the bottom that goes into the bushing... I guess the channel made it weaker, or added too much weight, because the new con rod is also thinner.
