    Lightbulb

its a tricky procedure but it can be done if u know how to handle a rotary tool or a dremil

try this site it is very informative and will guide u through the whole process. i have done a few for myself and as well as my friends and it is cool it will increase HP's a bit and u'll see the diff

but i have to warn u i messed up an engine before i really got it right. so practice akng the shapes required b4 u do it

I have taken the engine off of my car and i have taken off the side plate on the engine. Can u please explain to me how to get the piston, connecting ride and the bearings out without bending anything. I know that you have to heat the engine to take the bearings out but before this process how do u get the piston ad all the rest of that out. any info would be appreciated.. THANX

    first remove the cooling head

u have to take the sleeve out which will make the piston and con rod loose in the well. they will come out easily after u remove the sleeve

once they are out all u have to do is apply pressure to the crankshaft from the inside and it also will come out with relative ease

    remove the carb

your engine should be bare now. now u can heat it in the oven roughly 250 degrees. b4 u take it out make sure that u have a set of oven mits the lightly tap out the bearings.

now u can start the porting project

Thanx a lot. I knew how to do it but i didnt know if there was a special procedure to follow to take out the sleeve. All that was wrong was that it was a little frozen. I sprayed it with a little wd 40 and it slid right out. Thanks for your time

I ported my engine and it turned out AMAZING! I have a few tips thought. First you need good Dremel bits. I recommend the Diamond Deburing bits. You can get a complete set of them (official Dremel) for under 20 bucks on ebay. Just search for “genuine Dremel”. The advantage these bits have is that the grit on them is VERY fine. At high RPM’s these bits cut into the aluminum block like a hot knife through butter. And sense the grit is so fine, the bit doesn’t jump. I also took the engine all apart and put the sleeve back in it.

I have a steel “all” (I don’t think that is spelled right but it basically a screwdriver that comes to a point) with a 90-degree bend near the tip. I used the sleeve as a guide and with the All I etched where the ports lined up. Then when I used my Dremel I only removed stock that was within the lines. These bit grind so smooth through the aluminum that it looks like you polished it. This REALLY increases fuel/air flow. Well that my two cents.

Tell us how your engine porting came along...after all is done, try porting your carb also. The increase in performance with this mod is also amazing. I use an awl to scribe the inside of the engine block and grind within the marks. I only grind enough material to same depth as stock. You can at that point smooth just a little material away to help the charge flow smoother. You can also port the crankshaft to help the charge flow smoother also. I haven't done the knife edge on the rod only because I am afraid it would weaken this area. But something to consider is chamfering the oil hole.
second place is the first loser...

    Question

what do you mean by chamfering the oil hole. I know what the oil hole is but what do u mean by chamfering it. When you put the edge on the connecting rod how do you know how much to cut off. Thanks a lot

do not i repeat do not attempt to make any modifications to ur carb this will be a big mistake. finish the porting then start the car when u r done then tune ur carb for the porting that u have just completed. dont bother the carb it will be a mistake that u will never recover form bcuz the engine may not start. so just leave the carb as is u will have enuf power after porting

oh and btw when u start the car wait until it reaches full temp b4 u start adjusting ur tuning.

I have jus finnished porting the engine. I have not gotten to drive the car with it yet though. Before i drive it i need a few new parts such as belts and things but oh well. I have started the engine off off the car though. It sounds very agressive so i think i ported it right. Ill keep you guys posted
