    Project Jato 3.3 Silver Bullet

    Hello Guys,

I started a new nitro project... A Jato 3.3 Silver Bullet... This project started as a blue Jato, but I didn't like how it looked and changed to silver...

The idea is to build a Jato 3.3 where all the plastic parts are black and all the aluminum parts are silver... I'm using all Traxxas' aluminum parts that were anodized in silver and they were blue or titanium before...

So, let's start with the aluminum wheels for the wheelie bar...

Let's continue with the aluminum shocks...

    Aluminum turnbuckles...

    And, aluminum spindles...

I'll post more pictures soon... I have all the parts, so I hope this will be a weekend project...

Hope you like it so far... And, please, comment!!!

    Daniel.

Looks good so far. I want to see how it looks all done.

Do you plan on getting a screw kit? I have one on my Jato and it looks nice.

How did you get your parts like that?

There's a shop that anodizes aluminum parts to any color in my City... I paid $36 including shipping to anodize in silver all the aluminum parts I'm going to use...

So, let's show more parts... Aluminum tie bars...

    Aluminum hex wheel hubs...

    And, aluminum steering blocks...

More when the batteries from my camera are recharged...

Yes, that's my favorite part so far!

    Today, the aluminum chassis...

I took the pictures a few minutes ago but I don't like how they turned out...

Also, yesterday I found out that I forgot to buy the rod ends... So, I'll have to wait one more week to finish this project...

    Got a few more pictures...

    Aluminum screws for the wing...

Aluminum screws for the caster blocks and stub axel carriers..

    Aluminum flywheel...

    Aluminum nuts for the wheels...

This is how the wheels of the wheelie bar looks with the tires... Nice, right? Way better than red or blue...

And, I decided to install the variable damping pistons...

Hope you like it so far...

Well, the Jato is almost done, I'll put pictures soon, but when I was building it I found that the dust covers on the driveshafts were whitish and teared, and they were brand new with only a few month in storage... Traxxas needs to review those blue dust covers, they are junk since day one on every truck...

So, after seeing this, I decided to replace them and I had a spare front driveshafts from the new Stampede 4x4 and they fit just fine, the only thing that needs to be done is to sand a little the output axels on the differential, like this...

They are much stronger and will hold up just fine the TRX 3.3 power or something bigger... I think I'm the first one to try this...

Well, it's done, I don't know where I placed the EZ wires and the air filter, but it's done... First and last time I'll build a Jato, too small for my big hands... Now, it's time to finish my E-Jato VXL... Some pictures...

Hope you like it... I think this is the fastest project I built over the past 4 years, it took me only three months to complete it...

First time i check this thread Daniel, nice and clean build no question.
the silver touch is so clear in your signture , you could even add more silver color if you replaced the stock drive shaft with a cvd's that is alloy too.

Thanks Guys! The cvd's are a good option too, but I prefer the Slash 4x4 front driveshafts, easier to replace...

I just realized that I used the wire harness from a T-Maxx, and it's a little longer, I have to change that now....

Hey Guys, almost two years later, I finally did the break-in of the Jato! The suspension is too stiff and it bounces like crazy, so I'm going to replace the shock oil for a lighter one and retest, springs are fine I guess... Also, when I brake, it does a 180 turn, I have to find out why it does that... Everything else seems fine, I've been away from nitro for the past two years and forgot how fun they are... LiPos are a bad habit...

It does a 180 because you have to much break. Your aclty locking up therear wheels. That happen to me until I backed off my breaks and now it stop doing 180s

Found what caused the 180 turn, the rear shocks were too stiff and when breaking, the Jato couldn't lower it's tail to have better grip with the Anacondas... Will work on the shocks this weekend and try again...
