Used to have a ping pong table with my HO set up in my parents basement before they finished it. Nothing fancy, just a bunch of cars, a few engines and lots of track. I still have all my stuff in a large Rubbermaid container under the steps. I was just talking to my family about this today on the way home from the apple orchard when we got stopped at some train tracks, in fact. I don't know where it will go because our townhouse is a little too small for something even a 4x8.

My dad, my brother and i were way into it before RC came along, but now it just all sits in the basement. I always loved the Rio Grande trains, my brother loved Norfolk Southern, and my dad had mainly Burlington Northern.
We never did finish our layout though...

Tons of older vets and retirees in oregon are heavy into railroading. Its shocking, disturbing, and at the same time impressive how many guys have turned basements and spare bedrooms into dedicated railroad rooms.

We have a Lionel Wabash Cannonball set that my wife got for Christmas in 1974 when she was four years old. We've added a few cars and accessories to it and I get it out for the holidays. Everything is all original and it still works great. It would be cool to do a massive layout in G scale and incorporate a crawler course for my micro scaler. The driver in my F-150 scaler is a G-scale conductor that I modified.
