    venom driveshafts...?

Well, my 3rd pair of stock driveshafts is starting to get all ovaled out again, so I have been looking through the same old stuff to try and decide if I should just buy more stock, or get some alloy ones.

The only new contender is the Venom ones, which I must say are very inexpensive. There is only one problem:

"NOTE: Requires Aluminum Rear Shock Tower # 4130O, 4130R, or 4130GM to work properly. Will not work properly with stock rear shock tower. "

does anybody know why this is posted on the steel shafts from venom?
if it is only because of some type of interference, then I could probably just cut the interfering plastic off if it is not too important.

that is a serious design flaw if it will only truly work with the aluminum tower. but something inside me thinks this is just a way to get more money from people with disposable income.

and does anyone have any comments like "oh those are worse than stock" or something constructive like such.
I am lucky I don't have any money.

I don't know about the tower, but the fact is, if you run them stock, they are far too long and WILL destroy your diff in no time by smashing into the diff outputs every time your suspension works.

    well that is no fun.
well, guess I will be buying stock again.
no big deal though, they last me at least 2 months.

so the issue is the length of the middle dogbone piece?
well, does that mean that the protrac kit would fix the problem?
I am not going to go out and buy the protrac just to get some cheap driveshafts to fit, but I am just wondering.
I am lucky I don't have any money.

and they are just junk. find the thread in the 4x4 section about them. all they do is bend and fall apart. they are just junk in general. i spent the money on mip x duties and they are amazing.

I went with the Venom CVD's because the regular MIP's I had were junk , the Venoms are WAAAAAY thicker and better built than MIPs with that junk red retainer plastic ring .....so far so good on the Venoms .

If you're gonna get a protrac kit you can run Jato halfshafts with stock yokes and stubs which work great. I've run mine for a while and other then the blue dust boot on them getting tore up they are still in perfect shape. If you're gonna get a protrac don't buy any Cvds, they will all be too short after the kit.

If you aren't gonna get the protrac checkout Flm's Cvds, they are good and have a lifetime warranty. A little pricy tho, but sometimes you gotta pay for quality and a good warranty

I am pretty sure that those would not fit.
If they did, I would be all over that!

I have the Venoms and am running them with stock Traxxas parts with no issues.

The only issue I have had is my some hitting me full speed while I was stopped at an angle. Broke my rear carrier and bent the driveshaft. Tried to bend it back straight again with no luck since it bent right near one of the ends.
