After market Tires for 1/16th E-Revo VXL

I'm new here, I was told to post here by Traxxas Support. But anyways, does anyone know how i could, or what i would do to get a set of after market tires for the 1/16th E-Revo? I'm hoping to get paddles for it just to make winter time driving even more fun.

    Thanks!

Check out thetoyz.com or towerhobbies.com search 1/16 revo tires, and bam. Most 2.2" tires will fit the MERV though. If you like a set, post up here and we will let you know if they fit or not.

how big of a paddle tire are you looking for? there are tons of options out there, the revo and slash minis use the same 12mm hex as a lot of the 1/10th scale vehicles

Buy the Traxxas dish wheels part number 7171

Any 2.2" buggy rear tire will fit these, hundreds to choose from

Thank you guys. I was worried by the second day i saw that i had no replies... I'll be looking around.

    So 2.2" tires should work?

    Like these.

    Paired with this?

What would you recommend for snow tires? Preferably paddles. I live in eastern PA, last year we got hammered by 2+ Feet of snow, thats the main reason i got the Revo. Its 4WD, not like my 'Pede or my 'Rusty, and water proof.

No, because that is a very skinny front buggy tire.

The tires fit on these though.

Paddle tires will be your best snow tires, IMO.

    and

    ?

I'm thinking i would only put these on the rear, and get a different type for the front... or should I do both front and back with this set up?

    Yes, those fit.

Now, for the whole two different types of wheels, that is a bad idea. It's perfectly fine on a 2wd truck, but on a 4wd truck you have issues with your drive line. Go with all 4 paddle tires.

Ok thanks. One last question... If i remove one of the drive shafts, will i see an increase in power and or speed?

What i mean is by that is taking the rear or front drive shaft out and making it 2WD, I see it as the same concept as holding one of the tires on a 2WD car and watching it balloon.

Another bad idea man, you should blow your differential in no time . Not to mention, drive shafts. It would increase the power to one wheel, and give you a serious tire balloon, but with the sacrifice of ruining your drive line . No increase in speed though, since you are still putting out the same power.

I dont want to kill your winter fun ideas but if the snow is dry or "fluffy" you arnt going more than a few inches, even with paddles. I had the powder dream too, tried running the sandpaws that were mentioned. You have to do the transmission gear flip to get the gearing down low enough and run 55/20 as far as spur and pinion gears are concerened. When you got the right conditions though, the snow is so much fun. If you wanna see some videos i did check out my YouTube. It'll give you an idea of what to expect.

Thanks, and sorry for the delay in reply.

Normally we do get a "fluffy" snow here, its when it starts melting that i'd take it out.

therevolvers migth work, they have thick mountign flanges and need to be nachined down... or get some oterh rims... there are tons of 2.2" diameter, 2.0" wide truck rims with a 12mm hex

you can also use other wheels if you change your hex out, a lot of wheels accept other size hexes, or the pin directly

I'm not going for looks as much as performance.

What ever you guys think is the best combo for my experience level.

I've never glued tires and i've never painted a body.

What hop ups would you guys recommend? I've looked around and saw a lot about the T-Bone skid plate, and I've thought about the Traxxas Extended Wheel base part.

Well, If I redid mine from scratch.

    1. Traxxas hollow balls
    2. Traxxas CVDs
    3. Traxxas GTR shocks
    4. T-Bone Full Chassie Skid Plate
    5. GPM Knuckles
    6. Rocker & Steering Bearings
    7. Hitech HS 85MG servo
    8.RPM front & rear arms
    9. 55T Spur gear
    10. New era roll bar
    11. black & tan revo springs(the slash ones of the same color are too soft)
    12. rc18 diff shims

That is just about the set up i am running. My knuckles are HR and I dont have the T-Bone. It breaks much less then it did with the stock set up, even with a big block motor and larger tires. I want to get the t-bone full skid soon cuz I think it's be one of the last hop-ups that my merv needs. Also I dont jump it more then 5' high, slippers NOT locked, and I usually dont run into stuff. My driving isnt that boaring though. It's been clocked at 42mph and I drive it like I stole it except for minding the above guidlines. I did clip it's tire on a 1:1 tire yesterday around 30mph(guestimation) and didn't break anything. It's also done many cart wheels trying to learn high speed pavement drifting with roadhawgs and I've only broken 1 rocker from that. Hope this helps you out some.

What I have that makes it pretty undestructable, but there are a few other things I want that will make it even better.

    RPM arms all around
    RPM front and rear bumpers
    GH Rockers
    Black/Tan Springs
    70wt oil all around
    Pro-line beadlocks/dirt hawgs
    New Era Rollcage
    HR Front body posts

I kept the cost kinda low, and it's pretty bashproof but I still need

    GTR shocks
    Aluminum Shock holders
    RPM Knuckles
    Traxxas Pushrods
    GPM Turnbuckles

I upgrade as I go though, it makes it fun when you break stuff!

For #5, you mean RPM Knuckles... right?

@Grand posted just as i did...

I've heard alot about RPM, i'll have to throw some of their parts on my 'Pede and my Rusty

Nope, GPM. They're an alum. set that I think are designed better than the hr ones i have. Even if the rpm ones are good, alum is still stronger.

    @Grand you got a pm

if you do not machine part of the center out, you will have almost no thread engagement on the stub axles

there are many rims where you do not have to cut away half the hub to get them to work......

a rim that you dont have to modify

    there are tons out there

i plan to use a 2.2" truck rim that is 2" wide, not a buggy rim like many people use

i've mounted a set of shumacher rear buggy mini pin tyres, with the blue dot onto my proline titus wheels - they were a little difficult to get on, but they sit better than the stock road rage wheels - the tyre edge keeps the actual rim from touching the ground should the car land on its side.

i needed new tyres, preferably harder, because the road rages were beginning to tear at the edges (and after only really a few weeks of use)

some tyre companies sort their tyres depending on hardness with colour coded dots - it seems to be different for every company, proline say blue is super soft, whereas shumacher say blue is their hardest compound.
... oh, and sorry about your wallet

If your talking bout streching a buggy tire onto the truck rim. I'm not sure i'd do that, again. I put buggy dirt hawgs on some "universal" HPI MT Super Stars. The edge of the rim stuck out a good distance from the edge of the tire. For the first 2 weeks i was re-glueing little spots around the bead and I had problems with the edge of the rim chipping. Looked pretty goofy to me aswell. Either way, just throwin my experiance with the matter out there.

If your going with 2.2 paddles your most likely gonna need a truck tire, but having them help you pick some out would be best. Just remember,12mm Hex.

Yea truck tires make the merv look meaner. Plus the extra tire is nice on a big block merv. Id suggust using fishing line to strap the tires you get. My road hawgs turned into pizza cutters above 30mph before I did.

    tires vs gearing

I got proline beadlock with dirthawgs, since those are bigger and heavier tires than stock I was wondering what gearing shoul it set up.
