Starsky n Hutch Stripe for Red Summit

Im seriously contemplating putting one of these on my summit when i get it in a few weeks time.

I thought i could make something up in decal form but i dont think it would last long and peel off

so im thinking about making an overlay mask to paint the white stripe and use white hobby paint

my biggest concern is i will have to paint the outside of the body, so whats the chances of the stripe getting scratched off?

you would probably be better off with the decal, it will get scratched but will be slightly more durable than paint, and easier to replace. Or you could pick up a clear body and do it the right way, then just keep the stock body on the shelf for later. eventually you will need it

You could mask the area on the inside use dot 3 brake fluid to remove the paint.clean and dry then paint your strip inside.I've never tried the brake fluid trick but i have read about it a few times

My mistake, I'm guessing pretty much any brake fluid would do it.But if dot 4 is recommended thats what i would try.Make sure you clean the shell before masking to minimize bleeding under the tape

Get a new clear body, it would be better in the long run. I have painted heaps of strips on bodies during my time in rc. What you need to do is mask the strip on the inside & paint your red colour first. Then remove the mask & paint the whole inside of the body white. The stripe will show through where the body was clear. These bodies are the oposite colour layers to a normal car. This way the lexan will protect the stripe.
