    Finally

It has been waaaay too hot to play with these things. We set a record for the number of 90+ degree days in a row ...57. Had a couple of days at very high 80's, then back to 90's.
This morning was only about 85-ish with a breeze so I decided to run some fuel through my cars/trucks. Ran a tank through my 4Tec, Jato, Maxx, and one of my Stampedes. Wowsers, forgot how much fun after about 2 months of too stinkin' hot!
The Max was most fun 'cause it runs well in the grass as well as a few WOT passes on the street. 4Tec needs a LARGE area to exercise it and the 'Pede is just a wheelie toy. Jato is awesome all around but my big old Maxx ...........

Today I installed a set of new Talons that came on my new Stampede and ran it around the lawn and on the street. I have very thick, lush Bermuda grass and it ran well through the grass. On the street it just spun the heck out of them. Not much traction on asphalt. Put the Anacondas back on and it ran fast and true on the street, but as you know there was NO going in grass!
This Jato can do anything, just gotta get the right tires on it. I am thinking there is no tire that works well on both surfaces for the 3.3 Jato. Power is such that it can overpower the wrong tire on the wrong surface. ??? Did that last sentence make sense?

my jato with anacondas spins out all the time. I think it might actually be because my diff needs some thicker oil. I checked last night and it "feels" empty.
Anyway, if it didnt spool out like that it would actually hook up pretty good.
I've got a brand new set of proline 30 series wheels and road rages that i'll be trying out tonight or tomorrow. From what i've read they should hook up better.
For off road i use gladiators. works really well.

But like you said, i dont think there is a good best of both worlds tire.

Yep! Let me/us know how the road rages are .... for real! I've looked at 'em and ................... I have chased so many combos on my 4Tec and only found one of the "awesome" sets to be worth a crap. So if they stink, please say so. And if they are truly good let me/us know.

didnt get to run them last night, but i've got some time tonight, so they will see some blacktop...I will post back with my findings.

oh, last time i ran the anacondas(which are slicks!) i sprayed them with the walmart brand wd40. supertech lubricant. I let that set for a bit. It made the tires really soft and sticky. It improved handling quite a bit.

alright, so as promised i would post something after trying out those road rages.
Big difference. (keep in mind the anacondas were bald) These tires hook up really nice, and the car is more stable. However, they do seem to balloon a little more. I need to look over them and make sure they are still glued properly.
But other than the ballooning, i love them, and i can probably fix the ballooning.
They are the 30 series, and not the regular 2.2.
    Great tire!

Duct Tape on the inside is the best way to prevent ballooning.

yeah, I've known that trick for while, but for some reason i just didn't think it would be a problem with the 30 series road rages. guess i was wrong.
I would hate to take the tires of the rim and re-glue them.

gonna tinker with it tonight, and see what i can come up with.

Thanks! My Anaconda tires are not bald .... yet, so there may be a bit of the difference you and I see. Do you think the R Rage is better than the 'Conda was when new? OH ... what kind of surface were you on? New asphalt? Dusty? Older, sorta slick asphalt? Concrete?

I agree with the duct tape 100%. If I buy mounted sets I almost always have some issue with ballooning so every set I buy that I mount gets taped!

Thanks for the review ArcticRider, more info would be appreciated!

1/8 scale buggy wheels and tires. No ballooning, sweet handiling and tons of tire options.

In my opinion, the road rages are better than new anacondas. I was running on new slightly dusty asphalt. they have better of the line grip, but also cornering they provide better handling. I think they are just a better tire. The condas are good, the RR's are better...
