Name : Pit Bull Summit
motor : TEkin 1900kv T8
ESC : Tekin RX8
Spur/pinion : 22/54
Batts : (2)3s lipos in parallel (10000mah)
speeds : 35ish
Run time : 1hr 10min - mostly crawling
WHEELS/TIRES : CEN GENESIS 7.7 (COMBO)
BODY : Jeep Rubicon
Suspension : Stock long travel
Radio sys : Spektrum DX3R
# of lights : 14- stocks + light bar

Bolt ons : Led light bar, 23mm hexes, aluminum servo guards and skid plates,

Custom :
hand made aluminum roll cage, Led light wired to body post , so the lights come on when then body is placed on the car, 4WS (rear steer), Hobbywing $10 208oz torque servos all around

Comments : good speed, a little top heavy to be a serious rock crawler but does well on hills, motor gets a little warm with serious bashing (will go down to an 18 pinion soon), roll cage is INDESTRUCTABLE I could roll down Mt. Everest without a scratch, 2.5 foot turning radius with rear steer, tekin slow crawl is amazing.

I do like the idea of this thread. we should be able to brag a bit about our rides. I am still in the testing phase of my latest setup but this is it.

motor : Novak HV 7.5
ESC : Traxxas VXL 3s waterproof
Spur/pinion : 14/68(working best so far)
Batts : (2)3s lipos in parallel (8000mah)
speeds : 27ish
Run time : 1 1/2hr - mixed crawling/bashing(estimated)
WHEELS/TIRES : RPM Revolver/Losi Claw MT
BODY : Jconcepts Bajr
Suspension : Stock long travel
Radio sys : Traxxas HO
# of lights : zero

Comments : Motor set up is unproven, still in testing phase. Custom built 4WS setup(also still in testing phase). It is crawling extremely well for what it is. still a lot of work to do.

Everybody is allowed an opinion, if we are each happy with our own setup that is all which really matters.

Name : Monster Summit
motor : NeuCastle 2200KV
ESC : Mamba Monster Max
Pinion/Spur : 18/68
Batts : Two 3s 5000mAh ******* LiPo packs (parallel for crawling/hiking, series for speed and bashing)
speeds : 30ish (3s) 50ish (6s)
Run time : 1.5-2.5 hrs (3s crawling), 25-40 minutes (6s bashing)
WHEELS/TIRES : Stock Canyon ATs on Geode rims
BODY : Stock
Suspension : Stock LTs w/80w oil / Purple springs
Radio sys : Traxxas TQ-2.4 (1st-gen converted to 4ch)
# of lights : 16 LEDs (8 Cree super-bright 24,000mcd whites, 4 reds (taillights), 2 ambers (front corner markers), 2 super-bright blues (ground/rock lights... may switch these to white also).

Bolt ons : RPM front A-arms, Aluminum bumper mounts (bought before RPM bumper mounts were available), Traxxas wheelie bar, Hi-Tec steering servos, Finned AL heatsink for the NeuCastle motor

Custom : LED lighting (each LED wired independently with it's own dropping resistor for max lumens), Fully shimmed differentials, External capacitor bank for the MMM ESC, "Phono" plug/jack for lights on the body (jack mounted on chassis).

Comments : Amazing speed (on 6s), and a very good rock crawler (on 3s) though like mentioned, it's a bit topheavy (tends to flip backwards on steep climbs), The 8 Cree lights make for awesome night driving, a very good do-all truck that just never gets boring (my E-Maxx just sits now lol).

Awesome. No regrets with the actual unit itself. However I haven't been able to update the firmware on it due to a throttle surging problem that appeared since v1.21 and has persisted ever since, so I'm stuck on v1.20 because of that.

My Summit (Bought 08/10/2010)

Upgrades:

2.4Ghz Transmitter
ProLine Masher Tires (Really great in dirt)
ProLine Tech 5 wheels
Venom 5000Mah 2s
18T Pinion

I went with the 18T pinion over the stock 14T because it was just to easy for it to climb never needed the lockers or Low gear, so now i am pushing 30MPH and is still strong for climbing.

Only problems was with the 27MHz Transmitter, with in a week had a steering and T-lock servo go out. There were replace by Traxxas no questons asked. Arrived today Truck is back to 100%.

just a bit of an update for mine Summit(post #5).

I pulled the VXL ESC temporarily until I find a bit more time to work on it. One thing I do like about the Novak ESC over the VXL, is that the Novak can be programmed for Counter Clock wise motor rotation.

noir522, I see that you have the tekin 1900 motor. Have you tried 6s on this setup? How is the speed? I am debating my with myself betwwen 1900 and 2050 motor..

Also, you are running only 3s, and probably this is why the motor is getting hot. The lower the volts, the more amps will be required, the more hot your system will become. In case if you didn't know that.. Perhaps you are more interested in long battery times and that is why you need 3s in parallel. If you are not looking for speed, than your setup is right, and a low teeth pinion is the right way to go..

I bought both my wive's Summit and my own used at our LHS. So far her's is close to stock except for some Axial rims and Rok Loks. She custom painted a clear Summit body into a June Bug theme. She did a very good job. We had to replace the servos and the 775 due to heavy usage by the previous owner.
My Summit has aluminum control arms, Kershaw twin 700 motors, Kershaw wide track extensions, 3 different bodies, Pro-Line rims and Mud Slinger tires. I love putting lights on it. I go to Pep Boys and buy the lights made for real cars. They're cheap and pretty darn tough. I have an assortment of pinion and spur gears to fit my every mood. I also added aluminum front and rear skid plates, a wheelie bar, stainless steel screw kit, aluminum shock mounts, aluminum bell crank, Traxxas steel center drive shafts, upgraded to the 2.4 in both Summits, aluminum body mounts and stiffer springs. I'm waiting to get some steering servos from Kershaw and a brushless system.

Can you go into more detail about dipping your servos? What is the name of your dipping product? Do's and don'ts? What else can be dipped?

I used the Plasti Dip Spray, in black. Thats the brand, its not a typo. Just coat entire servo and a few inches of the wire. I usually use 2-3 coats to be sure. Anything you want waterproof you can coat. search for it on youtube.

I had to update once again

Name : Sumbot
Motor : Novak 7.5 HV(sensored)
ESC : Mamba Max Pro
BEC : CCBEC
Spur\Pinion : 12/68
Batts : 2 SMC - 2s 9000 Mah Lipo in series(4s 9000 Mah 28C)
Speeds : 32 Mph(calculated seems close)
Run time : 1 1/2 Hrs bashing - 4-5 Hrs crawling/hiking(estimated)
Wheels/Tires : RPM Revolver/Losi Claw MT's
Body : Proline 2007 Silverado
Suspension : LT with Double orange springs front and rear, 70 Wt shock oil
Radio : Traxxas Link HO (modified for 3 position 3rd and 4th channels)
Servo(s) : Hi-Tec 7980(front) - Hi-Tec 7955(rear)

Programmable Digital Components : MMP, CCBECm, Hi-Tec 7980, Hi-Tec 7955t

Custom : Front mounted motor, front mounted ESC, 2 water proof boxes, Servo saver spacer, Single front steering servo, 4WS(front and rear), TRX front toe links.

All of the exposed electronics are listed as water resistant, everything else is mounted inside the water proof boxes. I believe it to be quite reasonably water tight. As far as swimming goes, it is certainly not as water proof yet as I would it like to be. but I'm sure I will test it at least once

Update

Since my last post in this thread, I swapped out the twin revolvers for a Kershaw Gen 2 BL system, put a Boulder Holder body on it, added Big Joe tires on black rims and put Kershaw 200oz-in steering servos. I also installed blue anodized aluminum battery compartment doors and blue anodized servo guards. I'm running a 16/68 gear set up, stiffer springs and I raised the suspension for optimum ground clearance. I plan on installing some ultra violet L.E.D. lights on the bottom of the truck. At night that will look awesome.

I also acquired my 3rd Summit. This one is stock (read "waterproof") except for the Pro-Line rims and Mud Slinger tires.
