oh boy... here we go again. I like stock 27t and 19t spec motors. But others like the Speed gems and Orions with adjustable timing.

i had a komodo dragon in mine forever ago, it was great at the begining but then it really started to get lame if you go that route, just remember oil bearings, replace worn brushes, and get the comb resurfaced one ina while. you can do it carefully with some sandpaper actually though
Lead, follow, or get out of my way!

I wouldn't use sandpapaer. It can make the comm slighty out of round. The best thing to do is clean it really good with lysol 4in1 bathroom cleaner. It makes copper look like new. Get inbetween the comm segments. You also don't need to replace the brush on every rebuild. Replace them only when they can't amke contact or have are really discolor from running hot.

I have a old 1996 Race Prep Hack Attack stock motor. I wonder how it will proform. lol

actually, no, you want to do it earlier, because the spring in it gets weaker as it gets closer to the comm, and the brushes can slightly jump up and down, and damage the comm. i would only go about untill the brush is halfway or 3/4ths the way down. other than that your asking for trouble.

It really depends on motor. Most epics the brush stop making contact around halfway. Also the spring doesn't get weak it loses it reach. Yes a short brush can bounce on the comm but it won't damage and if a brush is bouncing it's b/c the comm is out of round and needs to be cut. Either way you will have see the lost in power and would need to do service. If you see arcing, 2things. The brushhood needs alignment or the morot has too light of a brush spring. The manufactures recommend changing the brushes every 3-5runs but that is not needed. Also the most important part on the motor is the brushhood. It's where the power is transfer to the brush. Make sure then area is super clean.

This is true. But too much arcing is very bad. A properly tuned motor will have a very slight acring. It will look like like just tiny sparks unlike a huge explosion.

Those are T.O.P base motor(Team Orion Peak). They should be very torquey( bas eon Orion's motor design) and actually should do good for the Slash. Run it at 0degrees timing.

My only complaint with Reedy and Orion base motors is they suffer from heat fade and they lose their power. All the Orion Cores and Reedy MVP we had the numbers would be low. Even after retuning...couldn't get the motors back to respecful numbers. Trinity's never had this problem. When the numbers drop and did a retune...they would be restored unless the armature was completely gone. For bashing it wouldn't matter but for racing it does. If you can find a P2K stock motor it's the king of torque with a very good rpm range.

That's a good choice for a non rebuildable.
