I see the package comes with an 18T pinion but what is everyone running gearing wise on the 4x4, those that have the MMM with the 2650 anyway. Thanks!

I run both 18/54 and 20/50 both are fast as heck.No heat issues but lots of traction issues.

Heheh, ok. Well the pinion that comes with it, is that the same pitch as the stock spur on the 4x4? Just trying to get everything together before it gets here. Thanks in advance.Originally Posted by fullmonte77
I run a 24t/50T with no heat problems but like the fullmonte said, you can get some serious traction issues. Gotta boost up the punch control.
how is speed with this gearing when running 2s batts?

The Castle 2650 must be under rated as far as KV goes because I bought an LRP Vector8 2800KV motor and it was slow as molasses geared 18/54, on 2S. I would probably need a 24 or 26T pinion to wake it up.
Ok one last question about this....
I dont see any markings on the ESC to identify what color wire goes into what slot. can someone tell me the color combo or does it not matter?
It does not matter. If the motor goes in reverse when it should go forward just switch any 2 wires.

18/54 or 19/54 puts you very close to speed of stk system 13/54,, I've found the 50 spur is the key to gearing it. It allows for adequite clearance with larger than 22 pinion, also allows for slight more clearance between spur and chassis.
20/50 and 22/50 is very nice on 2s
