    Project E-Maxx 6x6

    Hello Guys,

Well, I started this new project thanks to Halesk who was the designer of the dual differential case...

I'm pretty sure some of you are saying: "Not you again!", "Not another project!", "For God's sake, just finish one project first!"... Well, for you guys, here it is, an E-Maxx 6x6...

Background: A year ago I wanted to make this project but two things stopped me, first the extended body and second the dual differential case...

I was lucky to find a brand new Parma Ford extended clear body on eBay and also was lucky to find Halesk who was kind to sell me one dual differential case... Too bad his T-Maxx thread was deleted because of a minor misunderstanding...

So, here it is, the dual differential case made by Halesk... Pretty amazing, right???

And, this is how it looks with the differential and both pinions...

So, now I have the dual differential case, the extended body and all the necesary parts to build this new truck...

As many of you have already seen in my other projects, I design my own custom chassis and then laser cut them, first in transparent plastic for testing and finally in aluminum... That's what I'm going to do here...

I will update this project soon with at least the drawings of the chassis...

Hope I catched our attention with this one...

    Daniel.

This is sick. I checked out that dudes username and the video he posted in one of his posts is just insane. If you make a 6x6x6 anywhere remotely close to the one in that video, you are a god, and it will be my favorite truck I have ever seen. I fell in love with that truck in the video .

That dual differential is wicked man, I cannot imagine what you had to pay for that

Hey, you can never have too many projects, right?! Thought I'd share my build thread from when I built mine. Mine may a bit more crude (I cut my chassis out of plate steel with a dremel) than yours will be, but it's still running strong today without any major problems. Luckily, I sold it to my buddy, so I still get to drive it! My buddy added a bunch of lights and a working retractable snow plow. It was fun for awhile, but he drives it way more than I did!

    First body...

    Second body.....

Now with more lights and plow!

Enough to pay for my latest Maxx, plus a Slash, and some other odds and ends... I would have asked for more if one of my best friends hadn't been the buyer. Neither of us could have been happier with the transaction.

Good luck with this "one more" project Daniel!

it took me 6 month to build my first 6x6, you have to be faster than me

you open this thread in the brushless forum, will it be a fast monster or a crawler monster ? which motor are you going to fit on ?

    Sounds successful to me.

Now back to you Daniel. Didn't mean to shift away from your sweet build.

I have to finish the other projects first (MiniMaxx, BlackMaxx and E-Maxx 4x4x4), but I can multi-task...

Well, got some news, I got the body yesterday...

It's the one in the middle, a Parma Ford Puller clear body...

Also, the one on the right is a stock E-Maxx body and the one on the left is a 1/5th body...

    Hope you like it...

I was thinking that I might (I'm not saying I will) use two 700-HO motors from Kershaw Designs just to test them...

I got them cheap a year ago ($15 each) because they had some oxide on them, nothing serious...

I also have a dual motor mount from HPP Germany... It's almost a direct fit, I had to dremel the tranny just a little...

    This will be fun...

Daniel, clear your pms. But just so I don't lose this... Daniel, didn't put the order in yet as I have been really busy with work, glad you pointed out those maximizers to me, a buddy of mine and myself were actually just looking for a good price and 10 bucks a pair is a steal. I'm probably gonna get the green 17mm ones though, they are only 15 bucks a pair so...

Shoot me a pm when your clear your box out.

Hey Guys, well I got these wheels from Maximizer...

    http://www.maximizerproducts.com/mod...air_P67046.cfm

I could use 3.2" Road Rage or Mashers... Or any 3.2" tires, right?

    Thanks!

the central diff is made of plastic, it will not survive very long time
the weight is poorly distributed, it will lean to the front during a jump
    and it's expensive for a 2.5

First, I would like to say that I found a few amazing guys here that were kind enough to help me get a few "hard to get" parts for someone like me who lives outside the US...

This is because sometimes sellers don't ship outside the US or because the shipping costs are ridiculous high using EMS as their only choice...

That being said, today I got two rears and one front bulkheads from NewEraModels... I got them through a very nice guy that got them for me and then sent them to me... I owe you a lot Sir!!!

Now, I have to modify one pair of rear bulkheads in order to be simetrical, so both, front and rear chassis can be installed on them...

Blue beadlocks are on the way too!!!

And, I wasn't able to design the chassis yet, I'm waiting for the rims and tires to speficy the lenght between both rear wheels...

    Hey Guys,

A little update, today, I got the middle lower plate to connect the front and rear parts...

It still needs a little of hand work to be ready, this is how it looks right out of the CNC machine...

    Hope you like it...

    Hey Guys,

Another little update, the modified bulkhead for the middle wheels...

It was modified by the same CNC machine that did the lower plate...

I've been a little busy these past weeks so everything is slower than usual...

    Hey Guys,

Got a question/doubt, the tires I'm going to use are 5.9" in diameter, how much space should I leave between the middle and the rear tires? I have to design the rear top chassis that joins the middle and rear bulkheads according to that...

    Thanks!

I have a few complete emaxxes and a slew of tmaxx parts but none of this has a dual diff. I can prolly cut 2 to make one dual diff, but ive already done this with little success in reassembly.

And, a new thread... The dual aluminum diff case was made by Halesk (he wrote on this thread) but I think he no longer has any of them (I was able to buy 4 from him)... Hopefully he will make more this year... But, you can buy 2 plastic diff cases, carefully cut them in two, and glue them together... Will work if you don't abuse it...

What about using an erevo diff instead- they bolt together down the middle ( front/rear split ) so you can use two front halves to make a diff with 2 input shafts. I dont think it would take too much effort for make it fit some maxx bulkheads- look into a plastic welder or hot glue gun to build up the diffcase where needed, then shape it with some files and the dremel...

I have tried the erevo diff casings and got mine from tower hobbies at 3 bucks per, placing them together and trying to slot them in the bulkheads. Having serious issues with compatibility. I did it but im not totally satisfied with all the mods ive done to the drive system this would hold up.
I need these diffs here or some link to someone who has some for sale. I'll pay anything at this point.

As I said before, send a PM to Halesk... He no longer has them, he made 10 and sold them, but he will make more this year if there are many guys interested on them... And, you won't find them anywhere else... This is not a popular diff case, or easy to make...
