    somethings wrong??

hi all i think my merv has a problem ive ran my car and maintaned it well until suddenly my merv has lost its go it doesnt go very fast anymore and its topspeed has been shortened dramatically. i know its not the batteries cos ive got four (using series connector)and its going the same with both. My wheels and tyres were shot so ive bought some dirthog tyres on prolines ans renewed all the hollow balls (needed replacing) and its still the same. Ive also adjusted the slipper clutch in and out and that hasnt done anything either. Ive ordered a new clutch just in case. Can anyone help me?

Did you change the gearing when you put the Dirt Hawgs on? Are the new tires mounted on Titus bead lock rims? If so they are very heavy and have a negative effect on performance. When I had the Titus rims my MERV lost it's punch and felt very sluggish due to the heavy rims.

run the motor and esc outside of the vehicle - if it's still moving slower than normal then you might have an issue with your esc.

Hi ive ran the motor out of the car and it is going as fast as it was and i dont think thers a problem with the esc as all three modes are working fine. i have plenty of go now i forgot to add ive installed my new clutch as the old one was shot but ive still lost top end speed. i cant use the old wheels and tyres as they are shot also. Any ideas?

change your gearing like your pinion gear for bigger wheels its a smaller pinion for smaller wheels its a bigger pinion and i think its the smaller the spur the more acceleration and the bigger the spur its less acceleration and more top speed or have you done all that already

With bigger tires you should have more top speed due to the overall gear ratio increase, it may loose a tiny bit of punch off the line due to higher gearing mixed with added weight but not enough to seem sluggish. So either your batteries are shot or your running in lipo mode (green light-lipo mode, red light-nimh mode). If your running in lipo mode with nimh your esc will sense low voltage and limit the power it draws. That sounds like a good possibility from what you have described. To change modes- turn on your esc then push and hold the button for about 10 seconds untill the motor sounds a tone. If this isn't the case here then its possible you killed your motor/esc or batteries running heavy tires without gearing down.

    Huh?

I had to read that a few times to get a handle on what you're saying and I'm still not sure I understand it. This ain't English class, so I'm not saying anyone needs to be perfect... but please try to make it easier to read.

Are you saying that you put larger tires only on the rear wheels and not on the front? Doing so would cause a lot of drag in your driveline and likely cause your motor to overheat; it would also cause very bad handling.
