front tires vibrating at high speeds

After wanting to get into RC, I finally started last week and bought a brushless MERV. The only upgrade I have so far is that I am running a pair of 1600 mah battery packs, and swapped the pinion to the one that came with it.

When I run at high speeds on pavement, my front tires get extremely tall (as sort of expected) but they also vibrate so much I fear that I am about to launch one off of the car.

Now I am no mechanic, but I looked over all 4 wheels and everything seems to be tight. There is a small amount of play in each of them, but the amount of play looks to be expected.

I have read thru a few posts on here talking about different parts for upgrading, but have not found anyone having this problem.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

its called tire ballooning. It happens because stock the tires are not taped. Tires ballooning is a matter of preference, the more the tire expands the faster you'll go because of the diameter increasing, however it will obviously cause the car to wobble and become unstable.

The fix: when mounting new tires turn them inside out and apply a strip of duct tape inside the tire as centered as you can (to avoid taking the balance out of the tire) then mount normally

Thanks for the pointer. Where would you suggest I find some after market tires? I have looked at TheToyz, as well as TowerHobbies. I have ordered a few things from each of them and have had great service from each. Just curious who you use.

Thanks for being patient with me - still trying to get started in this and don't know which way to go. Only thing I have learned so far, forget about the balance on the credit card - just order some more!!!!

honestly I order from either towerhobbies or the toyz whichever one has the part i want in stock. Im in MD and toyz orders get to me in around 2 days (if you can believe that), tower usually takes 3 or 4 depending on your shipping option. I also use dirthawgs on 7171 dish wheels, really digging that setup; even though I was TOTALLY against dish wheels cause of their blandness lol, theyve grown on me significantly also the added offset helps keep the truck stable

EDIT: the dirthawgs are a 2.2' wheel meaning they WILL NOT mount on your current wheels. You WILL need a 2.2' rim (which there are a ton of options)

Thanks again for the help. I will look closer at them and go from there. I ordered from TheToyz one of those Carry bags, and my wife just called to let me know it made it already. I ordered it Wednesday, and it made it to South Louisiana in two days!! SMOKIN QUICK SERVICE!!! I am itching to get off work to get home and check it out!!

Thanks again, and sweet photo!! I see I will have to do like you and upgrade to the HR hubs.
