Dyeing Chassis

I've been wanting a different color of chassis, gray is getting boring. My question is, is there a product that lightens the color first? Like if i wanted to dye it red, it usually comes out a dark maroonish color but is there like a product that lightens the color of the gray chassis so it will dye a nice red?

And how much of the RIT dye bottle do i use? The whole thing?

Don't let it stay in the dye as long may-be? I've used 1/3 bottle in a container just big enough for the chassis and enough water to just cover it. May-be using less dye too? Just guessing though.

I used a whole bottle of the liquid black dye to about 1/2 gallon of water. Turn the bottom side up and place it in a pan with just enough room. Pour on hot water and let sit 24 hours, comes out MONEY!
As for your first question have never seen such a product.

I wish there were. Infact, I emailed Traxxas and suggested they start making parts such as chassis, diff housings etc. in White so people can start Dyeing them their favorite color for the ultimate in Customization. I suggest everyone email them requesting the same and maybe they'll do it. They replied to my email and sounded open to it, so if the demand is there, I wouldn't mind paying a few bux extra in order to be able to dye parts my favorite colors.

How about they offer pre-dyed colors

The "H" company offers their SC truck with an all white chassis and frame.
Looks very cool....
