I’ve been wanting a 4x4 for a while, and with the E-Maxx & E-Revo priced as they are… I was thinking about buying a “roller”, but then I started pricing options vs. the Platinum. I called around locally & found a dealer with a brand new PE Slash. I asked “How much?” - $430. I asked if they match prices, and the guy said “nobody has them”. I told him they were on the internet, so he lowered his price to $399, and I pulled out my plastic

Normally, I would take pics right after painting, but we all know they don’t stay good looking for long.



I know what you’re saying – “Is that an antenna sticking out of the roof?!” Yes, I’m lame & using the AM radio from my old Stampede. I did find a nice beefy heat sink for the motor, and installed a small 12v fan inside the chassis:



I bolted it to the side, and have it blowing so it hits the ECS & motor. I didn’t want any voltage/current draw from the main battery (since I’m only using a 7 cell NiMH) so I rigged up a rechargeable 9 volt battery to it:



Not even fully charged, the 9v outlasted the truck battery. I purposely bashed hard, driving through tall grass, speed runs, lots of WOT followed by braking – The motor temp never went above 135, the ESC maxed out at 118, with an air temp of 80. Eventually, I’ll fashion a water-tight receiver box for the 9v, and install a mini switch.


I have a set of Pro Line Flat Iron 2.2” tires I really want to use, but I’m having a hard time finding wheels that will not run into all the hardware at the hub. Any suggestions? I do have the 2.8” Talons that came with the Stampede, but I want something with more “bite”.
