steel shafts popping out of drive cup

i have installed and broke many plastic shafts and finally got fed up with them so i purchased the Traxxas steel cvd shafts.

all seemed great i drove it for about 30 minutes and then noticed it was front wheel drive only again....

I looked under the truck and noticed the right rear shaft had popped out of the drive cup at the wheel.

for the life of me i couldn't get it back in with out totally distorting and wrecking something .. i had to disassemble the one a-arm to get it back in. i couldn't figure out how it came out in the first place...

    and thoughts?

As stated in the instructions, they cannot be used with your pushrods in the innermost hole or with the long travel rockers. If you are using the extended rear a arms you need the extended drive cups.
if you dont break something go higher and faster

having your slipper clutch set to where it will slip a bit on a hard pull on asphalt will make your driveshafts last much longer.

You need to use p# 5153R then you can run on the innermost hole. A bad cartwheel could release the shaft, but other then that its fairly reliable.

definately get the extended drive cups. the a arms can flex, and rpm arms flex even more, and this can allow it to pop out of the cup. i run rpm arms, extended cups, and middle holes. Its easy to put them back in anyway. just unscrew the upper pillow ball, put the driveshaft back in, and rescrew the pillow ball.
Using while stupid may cause serious injury.

I had the same problem. Have your pushrods moved to the inner or second/middle position. You might have too much suspension travel. I believe it says it in the manual. I did this fix and never again they popped out.

how did you break that!!?? It looks like both sides are still intact.

I can make it easier for you. Either summit shafts or traxxas steel cvds.
FYI Ebay had the best Summit shaft prices for 45 shipped for all four.

what if i took my welder and put a tiny weld blob on the cup preventing the shaft from popping out not hampering the movement of the shaft in the cup though

You might cause the shaft to bind which could bend it. Just get the extended cups, they are your best bet.

Also make sure the pivot balls are screwed into the arms until the threads are not visible. This isn't a issue when the telescoping driveshafts are used but can be when using CVD's.
