    No Steering

So last night out of the blue my steering just stopped working. The throttle works normal. The steering doesn't respond at all. No sound or movement at all from the servo. Is my servo fried, or transmitter, or receiver?

if the throttle works fine it's the servo. check your connections in the receiver.

    Reboot?

Hey, had a same problem once. Reboot the ESC.

    if not that,

    then check out your servos.

    Good Luck!

Connect the servo to the throttle channel. Move the throttle trigger slowly (don't go all the way, could harm the servo).. if the servo responds then, it may be your receiver.

Any suggestions on a good quality servo that won't break the bank?

All depends. I had to replace mine, and just went with the same one it came with. Although, you could just replace it with the non-waterproof Rustler servo. There are 2 of them 2055, and the 2070(Rustler VXL). The one that came with your Slash is the 2075 and from what I was told, it is the same as the 2070 but is NOT waterproof. The 2055 is the cheapest of the three, but does not have the high TQ found in the 2070 and 2075.

A Main Hobbies lists the torque output on the 2055 at (Torque:80 oz/in), whereas the 2075 is listed at (125 oz-in torque).

You may actually be able to swap the 2070 guts into the waterproof case of the defective 2075.
