    Which Mamba upgrade ??

1st off is it worth it for just reliability ??

I'm happy with the stk speed and performance, but not the cutting out from high temps even on 2s when working it hard.

Is these 2 the best choices and which one ??

If you are going to run above 2s and never race, can't go wrong.

Its not the motor shutting down the system it is the esc. The esc. doesn't see the motor temps a better esc. is what you need. The castle/nue motors will run a lot cooler and have way more power than the vxl. Imo they are overkill in the slash 4x4.

found a thread with good info.

So the Mamba ESC is better regarding overheat , and the motor runs cooler correct?

Is it hard to set up?

we put a mamba on the vxl. the vxl ran hotter. the mamba monster 2650 is the way to go. its not over kill if you tune it to the way you drive. i run mine on 3s all day no heat probs. even on 4s. you can program it on your pc to fit your needs. but the power it nice to have.

i run the MMM 2650kv on 3cell and 4cell. it is the better way to go vs the 2200. both will have alot of power. the 2200 will need taller gearing to achieve higher speeds. i run mine at 15/54 and it is too fast on 4cell and almost too fast on 3cell. roughly 50mph on 3cell

Thanks for all input, looks like a 2650 and adding a 15p gear..

Lastly is the motor fan required or is it cool without it

I'm running 2s and 4s batteries on my MMM 2650. No heating problems and I've got it geared with a 25T Pinion and 50T Spur. It's fast, check that VERY fast, VERY VERY FAST! Set up is super easy and you don't need a computer to do it. The stock default settings are good enough for about 90% of the people out there, but it does come with the castle link so you can tune it on the computer if you want. I just left the stock default settings and honestly the only think that I might want to change is maybe add a little more brake (not drag brake), other than that, I think default settings are pretty much on point.

Also consider the new Novak system... The only one that has temp sensor in both the motor and the ESC to prevent damage.

If only they had made it 4s capable, I would agree. But Novak needs to get it through their heads, that 2s is not enough.

If you race 2s is more than enough with the right combo. I run the mamba max and a medusa 36 50 4800 and that is almost to much for racing.

LRP got it through their heads at least. The esc is questionable, but it eeks 4s capability. I'm still waiting for the 550 Ballistics to become available.

Yeah it's definitely on my "to buy" list Probably in a couple of weeks. I've just spent a ton of money on some other upgrades such as my Losi 8ight 2.0 Shocks and spring sets that I'm waiting to be delivered. As well as the adapters to make them fit without any mods. A set of 1/8th scale Proline Road Rage onroad tires. A set of AKA 1/8th scale buggy wheels and tires. As well as the 2 sets of Proline Split-six 1/8th scale buggy wheels, a second Proline Ford F150 body (still haven't painted my other one yet lol, but I wanted one for show with a ton of LED's and one for racing). So I need to wait at least another week before I order it. Next week or the following week my next round of goods are a set of stainless steel RC Screwz, a set of better quality bearings and probably the field link. After that, I think I'm pretty much done for a while. I've still got things to put on that I've already ordered and waiting to receive or just haven't put on yet. besides the stuff listed above.
