I would guess its probably 20w...either way its pretty thin. You could probably go up to 30 with no problem.

Thanks guys. I will probably go with 50wt. I hit a pole today and the whole a-arm on the front right was destroyed and the front right shock cap blew off and oil when everywhere. Not bad being that I have owned the truck since mid Frb and this is the first thing that has broken!

fill to the top, slowly move the piston up and down to clear any air. let it rest cap off to clear the bubbles. After no bubbles can be seen slowly screw the cap on with a paper towel on the shaft to catch the overflow that come out.
Run it, break it, fix it, love it :]=~

this is the correct answer i run 50 front and 60 rear but i use the slash for other reasons and that set up works well for me, it depends on the application

Is it different for PE and RTR?
JS19993 checked the manual and I respect that, so why are you others saying different?

That is what I've heard too. Replaced a bent front shock shaft a couple weeks ago....put AE 30wt in and it feels just like the other front shock.

It says in 2 places in my PE "owner's manual supplement" that front oil is 50wt, back is 40. So I think RTR is 30...

I second that. 50W in the front and 40W in the rear. What do you guys think about 70W? Too much? Or just enough? I need something stiffer.

It says 30wt in my RTR parts list....

Problem with the progressiv springs to choose the right oil, though. What rate do you set it for?

I use 50 front 60 rear with big bores in the back with blue losi springs and front ultra shocks with black losi springs

(my front big bore is leaking at the shaft still learning shock repair)

I got RTR and yes it is 50/40. I thought too it was 30/30 initially and put 40/40 in to stiffen it up - obviously without success - so now run 60/60 on hard surfaces with Losi 4.1 x 2.5" springs all round and 45/40 on looser surfaces with softer springs

I bought big bore shocks (actually have a smaller bore than stock despite being called "big bore"!!!!) and they came with 30wt oil in the packet and two-hole piston setup. Maybe the PE does come with 30wt in the big bore shocks. I'm not sure what they were thinking shipping them with 30 wt and a 2-hole piston installed - surely at that weight it should be a 1-hole piston unless they intend them to be used like a crawler.

I agree. I bought the RTR and it was fairly stiff with the stock oil and springs, but I bought some "big" bores and it comes with basicly water in it. I don't get it.

My manual also says that The truck comes stock with 50wt in the front and 40wt in the rear. But look here at page 6! It says it comes stock with 30WT in front and in the back as I thought it was before i read the manual.
