    Post +++MUST HAVES+++

Please post your list of items that you feel are "must have" upgrades for the 4-Tec! Please include part numbers or URL's if you have them...

    I'll start it off:

    1. Powerline 4-Tec Shocks N4T1011 - for better adjustibility and ride.

    2. Powerline 4-Tec Front Knuckles N4T1001 - to replace weak stock ones and improve stiffness.

    3. Powerline 4-Tec Rear Hub Carriers N4T1002 - to replace weak stock ones and improve stiffness.

    4. Traxxas Aluminum Tuned Pipe & Header 4485 - for better engine performance.

    5. A different body - just for looks!

    Have fun!
    DK.

    In additions to your list.

    1. Cvec 1/10 scale pipe. These pipes are great.

    2. Powerline Rear a-arms N4T1004. The stock ones seem to be too flexible.

    3. Powerline center shaft mount N4T1005. Just because it looks cool.

    4. MIP Shiny CVD's #1462. They look better and are stronger than stock.

    5. Mugen MT12 Turbo. Gotta have HORSEPOWER.

    6. Lots of practice.

    Thumbs up

i think the aluminum cvds might be better since they are lighter. and you probably dont have to worry about breaking or twisting them since they are so short. but this is just my opinion

I think the motor saver air filter is a definate. I love the HPI 72170 Threaded Aluminum Shock Set. I had to put those on. And some may disagree, but I needed to replace the EZstart with a pull starter. It was neat and EZ, but it was too heavy and it looks cheezy

The EZstart does look cheezy. Maybe if traxxas anodized the motor blue, more folks would be inclined to think it's cool? I know it sounds shallow but you'd be suprised how many people think anodized items means "fast".

I agree, that EZ starter has to go. Do you just remove the ez starter and bolt on the pull start?

Obmd: Yup that is basically it. Remove the Ezstart, and the wiring harness and bolt on the pullstarter. While you're there clean the one way bearing. You'll also need to buy a glow starter.

The one thing that bothered me most about the EZ start (besides that it weighs a ton) is that it just makes the car so busy. Too many wires, a harnes, a motor... And rocks and dirt kept getting stuck where I couldn't clean easy.

Also you'll need a forth mounting screw. The EZ start only uses 3 but the pull starter uses four.

i know that this is an old thread, but i figured that it needed to be revived because its NEEDED and useful. i would have to say that foam tires, and the RX pack would be must haves, along with the steel output yokes all around.

The tires and RX packs are easy for any to do. It is the steel CVD's that is the problem to most. I had my own custom steel ones made since I had a .21 Big block in my 4-tec and it kept breaking the stock plastic crap that Traxxas puts on them.

Carbon fiber upper chassis to prevent chassis flex, sway bars front and rear, better servos with faster transit speed, better radio
