What Wheel & Tire Combos Are You Using On Your Summit??????

Looking for different ideas for a all around tire like the Zombie Max but . I will be using the ofna yellow foams as they are very firm not like the stock foams. I use the Zombies on my emaxx's and love them but want something bigger like the stock tires on the summit canyon style stock. The foams i use add so much more durability to the tire and prevent ballooning bigtime.
    http://www.ofna.com/tires-foam.html
I will still be using the stock 775 motor for now but will go BL mid-summer. I would also prefer beadlocks as i can interchange tires and whatnot.

Changing tires on beadlocks is a really nice concept, but it is a supreme PAIN.

IMO buy 2 sets of cheaper wheels(or beadlocks) and swap assemblies when you want a change.

If glued properly the glue is actually stronger than the beadlock, I say this because on cars like Rustlers and Bandit VXLs that are capable of doing 70 MPH with super high wheel RPMs, beadlocks are not recommended(as they tend to let go of the tire).

Mine are the xl's g8 compound witch is definatly softer and stickyer than the normal m2 compound. The moab xl's are narrower but they apparently not making them any more they are not on the proline site places still have them though. The full width ones will fit on narrow rims with some effort.the Cheyenne's hexes are 23 mm witch means you need a adapter..My buddy is running the xl's on axial rockster beadlocks the difference's are smaller screws for the rings and on the Cheyennes the screws are recessed in the ring.I think the axials look cooler and being 17mm hex no adapter needed but i like the features of the cheyennes with the exeption of the gold/orange rings.I'm gonna have to do something about that

I agree with quadiak, beadlocks are over rated. The time it takes to screw and unscrew 100 + little screws - not strip them , reset the tire after going too fast, its not worth it Unless your gonna run 1 set and never swap to another. Its much faster and cheaper to just buy multiple sets and swap them out. Installing the screws is nearly a two hour job, and you have to pay attention (no tv) cuz they strip easily.

wasnt there a thread like this posted 3 weeks ago?

There pretty good the screws are a bit bigger than the axials.I'm running the rock crushers, yes i got the adapters from proline but others have them maybe cheaper.the stock hubs and adapters were always sloppy and couldn't keep them tight even with loc tite.these use a axle pin and nut. witch will break long before a axle and there cheap, buy lots.get extra washers for removing the slop in the hubs.I used a 1/4"washer for the extra spacer.kershaw high torque servos+big tires+ very little slop in the front end=Happy me When i decide on motor and my lipo's arrive really happy me..Ha Ha.

Just As Jamann said, they are the RC4WD Mud Slingers mounted on Axial Rocksters. I these tires. They give the grip needed to climb, yet I have found them to be very forgiving on fast turns. The tread pattern allows for them to give some sideward slide in a fast turn, therefore helping to keep the shiney side up And this is while running on asphalt. I'm not saying you cant roll over, but it wont do it near as easy with these as it would with my stock tires. Oh! And playing with them in snow? All I can say is

^^ +1 You think Barq's has bite?! Try the 'slingers! They do make the truck roll over less when going fast, which is nice. Crawling has been good too, especially on a steep side hill where the stock tires will fold over onto the beadlock. It is money I don't regret spending!

The only problem is that they tend to dig straight down quickly in soft soil going up hill.. actually, is that really a problem, is it just cool?

anyone that has used the commando bead locks or any of PRO-LINES for that matter ever notice after a few tire changes that the holes become stripped and the rings don't fit tight anymore,, or was that just a problem when they

I also have the Axial\Moab XL combo...
The new tire combo weighs 378 grams while the slightly worn Geo's (complete with fake BL rings) came in at about 333 grams, so a slight increase in unsprung weight.

Not being satisfied with the traction in dirt\mud, I ordered a set of the Pro Line Mashers, 40 series. Found a set of non-beadlock rims at the LHS and thought I'd try my hand at dying wheels and gluing tires.

For the dying of the rims, it couldn't have been simpler. Heat a pot of water, pour it in a cheap bucket with the rims, add the Rit dye and let sit for "awhile". Rims came out perfect.

Gluing on the other hand, suks. Glue and I have never gotten along. I knew I was in for some trouble for two reasons... I got the narrowest rims I could find for the Mashers and when I opened the "tire glue" bottle, it smelled just like superglue.
And, like superglue it glues within seconds, not happy with that. Next time I'll use RTV silicone I think.
At any rate, I got the tires glued on but ended up not being able to get the beads to seat properly while trying to glue in the bead channel of the rim, so I ended up removing the tires\glue, re-seating the tires and putting thin layer of glue on the outside of the rim\tire. Functional, yeah. Looks like crap and I still hate glue.
Final Product. I'll post reviews of performance in a week or so. I think they'll do well in loose dirt mud, though they are a bit shorter than the Canyon tire. More torque, less speed, less clearance.
