    bb mount or no?

would I need the tenbol mount for the 4600kv motor from castle that's packaged with the sidewinder? My stock motor gets so hot on my 3s 25c 1500 now.. I'm running the "speed pinion" with stock wheels too I could gear down but it would be too slow. I feel like I lost speed with the sidewinder as it is I can't even run the battery down without letting the motor cool down

it's been in the 190s that's scary hot.

I have a mmp an 5700kv. An i regret it. For $250 u cud buy a whole nother merv. The normal 20c batterys dont work propelly bevause it does guve enuf amps an blah balh. An u lose ur water proof ness. Well if you buy a boost battery i guess it'll be better

so 25c isn't enough for full speed? It does ok at the start imo just seems like the top speed isn't there. Does running in parallel increase the c output?

I bought a heatsink with a fan but it's intejunk and the fan didn't work from the start

i was using 20c batts. An the batterywas about to explode cuz it wasnt giving the motor enuf amps. The motor was VERY hot too. I ran them in paralell an it changed everything completely! But im buying a 40c batt

Check the timing setting on your sidewinder as you could have it at max. My sidewinder came in race mode (no reverse) and Lipo mode. Try puttin the timing to low and see if it helps. Also you have punch control which will help. Also if your brakes are higher then normal 25-50% it also causes heat. Alotta of the times my motor gets hot, even with the sidewinder, due to my driving style on pavement, stop go, stop go, wheely, backflip. The c current really won't help out in your case unless you get the bb mount. 20c is more then enough for the stock motor.

ya it's my driving style for sure that's getting it hot although I don't know what ppl do differently that wouldn't cause heat lol..

what should I run the punch at? Is this just how fast/hard the car takes off?

Correct, with it off it pulls what ever max amps your motor needs from the batteries. If the motor wasn't getting enough voltage your batteries would be hot and motor would be cool. Plus your drag brakes could be on. People keep it under check by cutting out the windshield for better airflow. With heat sinks on the motor you'll notice a difference. If you run parallel it will pick up a tad more speed but your motor will still get hot. Especially if you run it longer then you do now. Just ease on your throttle and let it brake slower and the motor should cool down some. I think that's why the stock esc has no brakes. It takes alot to slow down your momentum. Also to get it back up in a rush.

To answer the original question, yes you would need a Tenbal mount to use the CM 4600kv motor.

I think there are better options. Even if you dont want to use the stock motor there are some Neu motors as well as other manufactures who produce high performance motors that fit the stock motor mount.

You dont have to loose the waterproof capebility when going BB, There are certian ESC's (1/10 VXL comes to mind) that are waterproof too.

In fact I am considering putting my VXL (1/10) setup in my merv for some speed runs.

I just don't think I will like the increased CG on the track...
