thanks ill try it

4. 17/86 is 5.05/1

11/56 is 5.09/1

That's as close as you're gonna get.

you;'re doing it wrong, it's

17/86 is .1976/1
11/56 is .1964/1

6. ? spur divided by the pinion multiplied by the tranny ratio 2.72 equals......?

LOL. 13.84 I think. For final
A ratio of 5 would take a mile to get any speed at all!

7. Thaco - It's the other way around. The accepted and common way to do the math is the spur divided by the pinion.

Either way will get you the same answer.

Traxxas manual states --( spur gear/pinion gear x 2.72)

10. just take a look:

****! Just replace the 3 *** by the capital leters W T F

11. Since your just trying to match the ratio of a 48 pitch spur/pinion you ONLY need to use the spur/pinion=ratio method. Your not trying to find the final drive ratio here. The OP just wants to know what 32p gearing will match his current 48p gearing. I can't believe people get so off track with their info sometimes. The ratio he's looking to match IS in fact 5.05 and the 32p gearset that will get him closest IS in fact 11/56 which gives a ratio of 5.09.

12. Pavement, your right. I was just simply letting the OP know what the Traxxas manual states. Like you said, it will work out the same either way.

13. Oh... Didn't hit my brain right.... Darn rockstars

14. you know that if you figure out what the problem is with your current set up is you wont have to switch to the 32p gearing, becuase once you go 32p you may want to go back and have to buy new trans parts maybe

He's right, on both counts.
