Tires Made for 6S?

Does anyone out there actually make tires for 6S power? Seems like a lot of us have trouble with tires and must go through the trouble of lining our tires with duct tape. That seems silly to me - there must be a better solution. I'm running the Traxxas Sporttraxx, which have excellent traction but sound and look like they're gonna explode whenever I get on the throttle. In fact, I did manage to explode one the very first day I got my truck running (pre duct tape). Now that I've glued, removed and re-glued them they don't sit as true on the rim. I'd much rather go with a stronger tire so I don't have to keep fooling with them.

i normally run road rages on 6s for speed runs on asphalt and they hold up great (taped with gorilla). I would love to have some belted tires though, so no more taping the stupid things. I heard proline and hpi are working on belted tires, i sure hope someone comes out with a set

I agree, one would think with all the technology at our fingertips there would be a capable combination out of box. I'm running rulux 1/2" offset with mashers as well as rulux 1/2 " with crimefighters....such a pain to try and get them balanced properly! I cringe giving it any throttle while in the air for fears of shredding either the tires or the erbe apart! BF goodrich is one company on the mission apparently....

I sure hope someone comes out with these belted tires quick, I cant really push the 6S to max like I would love to. The few times I did, the left or right back tire would blow and the car does cart wheels about 10-15 times before rebounding off the chicken fence or some shrubry near by - really exciting to watch but not as healthy lol!

so far Ive went threw about 6-7 runs on 6s with the revo with the 40 series road rages and its been holding up no problem... Nothing broke and Ive been lightly bashing but mostly doing speed runs... the only thing I noticed was that at mid speed to high speed it was vibrating quite a bit so looked at the car and my right front was pointed outward so i fixed that and he fixed 75% of the shaking... I only used one piece of gorilla tape down the center but the tires really dont balloon at all so im thinking I need a slight balance...

My current gearing was 18/62 for 50+ mph but last night swapped out the 62 for a 54 so when the rain stops I will see what she does...

I have been running rulux and proline badlands since the ERBE first came out. so actually 1 year now. i beat the snot out of them and have not even broke 1 bead running only 6 cell lipo's. the tread wear is great also they is 2/3 of the tread left. I strongly suggest this combo

Sorry i forgot 1 more thing! you WILL have to tape all your tires for use with 6 cell lipo. if you dont tape them they will be trashed in a hurry. i have used 3m extreme duct tape from menards and the gorilla tape with great success.

To date they've outlasted a couple of centre rear driveshafts in my Truggy on 6S 43/25...

I'm confident they'll see 80 without trouble

Blew 2 front tires today - Traxxas Sporttraxx. Turns out that my glue - un-glue - tape - re-glue job failed. I assume had I remembered to tape them the first time this wouldn't have happened. I'm going to try again with the same setup and see what happens the 2nd time around. I really like these tires and wheels and how light they are.

New hobby store by me had some nice slicks belted i did not get the name though, Guy looked busy putting store together track etc...
HPI has them but not avail as of yet belted and they look like phaltlines.
They said april and now its April and no tires I am waiting also, As my Revo is set up for the street and speed so I have been wrecking Slashes at the rate of 1 per day. Dog bit through a Lipo yesterday that was a nice fireworks and Melted slash Display. Word to the Wise Crazy German Shepard chasing a Slash with a MMM is nice until the dog gets it Their mouths are soo strong went through a Proline Body Carbon fiber shock towers and a lipo like Butter.

I found somewhat of a solution to the phaltline blowout problem. I tried the fishin line and glue and was suprised with the result. Obviously this would not hold well in a bashing enviroment but for speedruns it worked great.

Nice man I ran one set of Phaltlines today with 50LB Test and the line broke but we still have rocks in the street from winter salting so I think that had something to do with it. I did not put GPS on it today but my gearing is for 108.
Also I dremeled a center groove and have another set with mig welding wire tacked, But I am not going to try them until the street is clean beacuse I have wiped out over 80 and wrecked everything. I actually hit a pole last year @ somewhere between 75-85ish I even broke the shaft off the motor thats how bad it was. Full speed floored and at the time 24/34 gearing right into a steel lightpost. Nothing was spared lipos even flew and one burned up.
Oh 1 thing did survive and its really funny cause its the thing that usually goes the MMM ESC Survived.

Wow man 108....thats gonna be sweet. Sounds like we think alike on the tire situation. I've considered making a third groove to help control the center ballooning but on the other hand I think the added diameter is worth more on top end. I wish i could get 24/34 gearing on my truck. Seems that there are alot more options for the revos. I'd give anything for a 34Tspur. Thats some wild gearing. Bummer on the wipeout, I'd pay to see that on film tho, lol. That's by far my greatest fear. Over 50 you're pretty much at terminal velocity should you strike a fixed object. I quit running mine on parking lots for that very reason. I'm gonna get back out today and run mine hopefully. I added a dab or two of glue here and there to the strings after that first run. We'll see if it makes it thru another speed session. Cant wait to see you bust 100, where could I keep up with your progress?

I was looking at lawn mower rims/tires. Some of them have a decent solid rubber tread a little more stickier than phaltlines or roadrages feel. Might do the trick.

I checked out both makers and it looks like the ipanema's belted tire only has a 5 inch diameter. I'm gonna look further at the GRP stuff. Thanks for the tip

No prob. I've been having the same problems with tires myself. Im only on 4s and have tore up 3 HPI phaltlines. They only lasted about 6-8 packs. For as expensive as they are they sure don't last long. Im really hoping the GRP's or ipanema's are made of much thicker rubber.

RC driver had something about ipanemas in there new products section. Said they were for the emaxx/erevo. Don't know if those are the ones on there website or if they just haven't listed them yet. Maybe by some chance they haven't listed them and there larger diameter.

Thats cool man nice run not sure of gearing for that truck though but looks like everyone else with that truck is going 60 something so nice job.
I picked up a 5T for now as I am destroying things way too fast with the ERBE speed runs and dirt on the street.

has anyone tried 5b/5t tarmac I just ordered the the 5b/5t wheel adapter that just came out
i run 23mm with alum. tape at low speed with my dewaltand 5b paddles but just put the rx8 in and with that much more power Im getting the 24mm just to be safe

This time around I used the Gorilla Tape and a LOT more tire glue on the bead and this combo is holding up MUCH better. Had I done this the first time I wouldn't have had all these problems. Lesson learned.

40lb test fishing line wrapped twice and tied in the 2 grooves available and then glued directly to the tire has worked well for me. So far I've gotten 79mph out of mine and they're still holding. I tried gorrilla tape in the beginning and I found that it's only good for about 60mph.

I feel your pain trashing phaltlines. Luckily I'm only on my second set. Good luck man

Crimefighter LPR (hard), stock offset dish, taped 2x gorilla, 6s, MMM2200, 22/65...balanced. Worn out many sets without major incident. Tore a foam once. Avoid hot days.

I was looking into this also please let us know how it goes I like the way the wheels look, and everything R/C has good deals on them mounted.

The 3rd groove dont work much better, we tested it last summer. theres more risk to have one tire expanding differently than the other one, and it will slow you down...



So far the 40lbs test have held up to the 91.2mph.

-Pocketrocket, id say the rocks on the road is probably the cause of your issue like you say, the tire we used are worn in middle and the fishing line even have wear on it and is still holding for now.

We may been very lucky, the asphalt was rock free that probably help.
