First, re-check/re-charge the batteries. Use volt meter if available to check battery condition.

Did you try to un-plug the servo and see what happens? Sounds like a bad servo. Check the other close by thread on servo issues.

    hi/low shift sticking thread

My issue was binding in the linkage with wire tie near shift servo.

Agreed!!! No need for training mode.

If a servo is getting HOT it is either binding on something that is not letting it move as you commanded .... or is bad .... or was just not adjusted right by the factory (improperly centered or improperly trimmed).

CALL TRAXXAS SUPPORT .... 99% of the time they can straighten you out over the phone.

I agree... that sounds very bad.

Does anyone have advice on keeping a 4 year old from shifting while going 10 or 25 MPH? (Other than to just let him drive the Stampede, which has only one speed: Ludicrous Speed)

His hands are small enough that he might accidentally push the button while going into reverse... For reverse he holds the controller with his right hand and pushes forward with the left. It is funny to watch, but his fingers are too short to do it normally.

I measured the batteries to 9v each, and 6v out from the receiver... is it possible that i got two bad servoes...

I'd say you need to read the posted thread as my best guess is that you have some binding in the shift linkage (spring tension issue) .... but yes it is possible but not probable that you got another defective servo.

Have you tried moving the linkage by hand?

You can unplug the servo, get it in the gear you want, and drive it while you are waiting for the new servo.

Note in my post how I had to bend my linkage some and move a wire tie to solve my shifting problem .... as it was not the spring and ball.

I feel your frustration all the way across the big pond!

I just got a new Summit less than a month ago and the high/low servo lasted two days. It is ridiculous, so many people having the same problem. I had hoped that the problem which has been posted on several times would have been resolved by Traxxas by now.

Hi,You've got the eternal problem of micro servos. But its fixable,Adjust the servo's using the "hidden "screws on the back of the TX,they're down some holes behind where the batteries go.they're white plastic, adjust them til the servo stops buzzing.Works for me.I don't know why this isn't mentioned more. The guy from traxxas Uk told me about them(nice 1 Jeff)lol.Hope this helps, mention NOFX if it does, lol

    IK forgot something,lol

Hi guys.I fogot to mention, hold the servo horn when you're doing it up,I've just knackered one by forgetting to do this(luckily I've got some dire servos out of a ml$t2,the gears fit ) This should help on the frustration and cash side of the problem.Traxxas do do a replacement gear set for the gears, but they are standard .Also ,as I've posted several times,(a few today) .the servos are adjustable via 2 white screws on the back of vhe transmitter, behind the battery compartment.Works for me,lol

Note: A servo centers when powered up .... well actually it takes on the position the Rx is telling it. A shift servo is shipped centered ... but when powered up will re-position full right or full left by virtue of the switch setting on the Tx. The trims adjust so that it is not being told to go further left or right than is needed to make the shift.

NOFX, I've got the new 2.4 transmitter and I've checked, those set screws are not in the back. Holes are there, but no screws inside. There are "menu" and "set" buttons and a programming menu to go through for adjustments.

It looks like the only adjustments to shift and diff servos is reversing while steering you can do end points and sub trim. What do the screws on the AM radio you mention translate to adjustment wise? Sorry for all the noob questions, but I really want to get this right. Thank you again.

The holes in the back of the AM Tx allow adjustment of trim pots located on the circuit board under the access holes.

I would have "hoped" the shift servos and diff lock servos would have had end points and sub trims ..... but it looks like linkage and ball adjustment on the linkage is all the 2.4gHz is going to have on these three smaller servos.
