Didi just fry my EVX or burn my motor out??

So i'm was doing some bashing today around town and not sure if I just killed my titan 550's or my EVX. So just to give you a little history..I have a somewhat stock e-revo and im using duel duratrax 7 cell 5000mah batteries. I changed the standard connectors from the EVX to the motors to traxxas high-current connectors.

So while out bashing the solder broke on one of the connectors (red wire) to the forward motor. I then came home to solder the wire back to the connector..After that I did some backyard bashing at full bore just making sure that the solder connection was go..I was in full forward then kicked it into reverse..did a couple of runs like this then my revo stop dead in its tracks..So now I can power the evx up and I'm able to turn the wheels but no forward or reverse motion..Any ideal what it could be..

How do your motors smell? Do they smell burnt? You said that the EVX turns on so its a good bet that its ok.... Pull the motors and spin them, are they nice and smooth? More then likely the Titans are junk though.....

Yah my titans fried after a few runs with my e-revo, check to see if your brushes exploded like mine did, kinda weird how it happened to both motors at the same time tho

Well i'm looking at dual 700 from KD's for now since I can't afford to go Brushless right now..But if I can't swing the KD's on payday then I'll drop $40 on to 2 new 550 to get me back up and running..

Look into a single Titan 775. It will last longer than the 550's and has mor torque

+2 on the 775, it runs cooler ,the esc will stay cooler and its just a couple MPH slower than the dual 700's

i ran mine in a e maxx, geared 24/68(KD says 25/68) and i still burnt 1 up within few runs. even put the esc into thermal shut down.

the motors would run 160 to 180* no matter what i did, the esc ran in the 180*s

with the 775 the motor wont go over 135 and the esc has never went over 100*

Check this recent thread here: http://monster.traxxas.com/showthread.php?t=513490

I ranted over there about the poor choice Traxxas made putting in 19T pinions. Leads to an early death...

Well since i'm going to be moving to dual KD 700 after tax time..Do you think it would hurt the titan if I went ahead and geared them to match the 700..I think the over drive gearing is 40T Pinions and a 72T Spur??

I'm not familiar with the KD's. But since your 55o Titans are fried, what titans are you referring to? Whatever you try, I wouldn't run the 550's any higher then the stock ratio. Lower will be way better, otherwise they will be toast very fast. Even for temporary running, it might not last long enough to keep you going 'til the new motors come.
