    New STRC Parts

I'm trying out a few new parts...

STRC Aluminum Motor Mount and Motor Plate

Mod 1 Hardened Steel Pinion and Spur (trying this since sand has not been kind to my stock setup)

    We'll see how it goes.

Looks nice! Looks beefy. Now you need the clear gear cover to let it all show.

The best parts it that the parts fit perfectly and everything lines up. That is more than I can say for some other aftermarket companies

So I take it your stock spur got chewed up in the sand?
The reason I ask is because I'll be hitting the dunes at the end of march.

My MMM/2650 combo came with an aluminum pinion. The pinion and spur looked pretty bad after 2 packs.

Yep, it bolts on in place of the 54t stock spur.

The setup in the picture is a 16t pinion and 44t spur, but other size would fit.

yeah i got the motor plate, motor mount and steering caranks, everything fit like a glove, the cranks are cool because they incorporate an adjustable servo saver give st racing credit for putting out a quality product, they even had them out before the manufacturer did, thats awesome

Where did you buy mod 1 spur, and do you have enough room on the mount to go smaller with the pinion?

I have to add my compliments to STRC. I installed my motor mount and plate today and it went together pefectly and looks awesome. I like it so much I jumped on their website to order some shock towers and just about every part but red is out of stock. Looks like the secret is out.

I'm using mod1 spur gears made for the Tmaxx. They bolt right up to our slipper. The one in the picture is part of a Robinson Racing kit (RRP8644) that includes an 18t clutch bell and 44t spur. The 44t mod1 spur is the absolute largest that will fit. It is just slightly larger than the stock spur gear and is super close to the chassis. A cheaper alternative is a 42t mod1 steel spur that Hot Racing makes (SRVO442). I wanted the largest spur that would fit to allow more room for the big motor, plus I am hoping the RRP gear will hold up better. The smallest pinion I have on hand is a 14t and that fits.

kazuaki, thanks for the reply and part# info. With the STRC motor mount and plate, the stock plastic spur almost looks out of place.

Yeah, I'm not normally a fan of metal spur gears. I'm giving this a try onlu because the sand is not nice to the stocker. I'm hoping the hardened stell and larger teeath will be much stronger. I'm sure it will be louder, but oh well...

I'm going to be hitting the beach and already fragged the stock slipper and spur, so it's tempting.

Well I'll be in Glamis (sand dunes) in 2 weeks. So, I'll have a report after that. One thing I just noticed...the stock gear cover doesn't fit well on the STRC mount. The shape of the mount is different, so it creates gaps around the cover. The Traxxas mount might be better when it is available.
