energizer nimh rechargeable AA's for most of my controllers. I also use every now and then those lithium ion AA's and was really impressed with how long those last. They seem to "recharge" themselves slightly when the sit for a while after you turn the controller off. Overall I stick to the nimh batteries. I charge them using my accucell 6 for the best possible charge.

what kind of mah ratings? atm i have energizer 2450mah batteries and after an hour of use at cold weather it took 5mins to recharge those with Varta charger
I've been using rechargeable Nimh AA for years, but recently picked up some Rayovac Hybrid low self-discharge Nimh. The capacity is a lower than standard Nimh (believe it's around 2100mAh), but they keep 80% of their charge after six months of storage. They can be charged in any Nimh charger. Target sells them for $11 for a four pack.
I also use the Rayovac NIMH rechargeable AA's.
i have two trucks too. I use one radio and swap crystals.
