    I tried to break it

Well, took it to the local track for the first time today (hard clay indoors) Truck continues to handle poorly and I cannot go into any corners with any speed. Tired of messing with it so I decided to have a bash session and beat the heck out of it....

Well, It doesnt even break properly! No bent axles, no broken driveshaft, only lots of high speed cartwheels and several lawn darts trying to clear the impossible triple. Dont know what to say about everyone elses but My PE Slash seems kind of bulletproof. body is terrible, but we all know that.

Just ordered a Blitz from Tower.. May sell the PE, I am giving up.

What tires are you using? What is your ride height set at? Sway bars?
Have you tried setting yours up using the Steve Slayden set up?

Tires will help. I got mine on the first wave and have driven it a total of maybe 30 seconds...I will try to get some track time and video if I get a chance.

    I own a 2x4 Slash already.
Tried every different setup I know. Tired... Stock PE, Stock Slash, Goosebumps... Sways, Ride height, diff oils, tinkered with shocks to no end, rear toe, camber, front toe. Made it slower, made it faster, played with the throttle curve and drag brake (MM ESC) I just cant get it. I almost have to come to a stop to initiate a turn. This truck has like NO turn it!

Center diff only. Never even ran the slipper

If you don't want to do spring changes, try this setup
    http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...x401-16-10.jpg
Disregard the ride heights and preload collars and use this...31mm front, 34mm rear,4mm preload front and 8mm in back. I really like Tims setup. Also look for Slaydaddys setup. it was This setup was on Bowties but the S1 are alright.

could be driver error.. But Ill say that I can smoke just about anyone at our track with my stock Slash.. Add 3 diffs, 2 more wheels under power and a whole lot more power to use, I should be a little faster!

I am new to RC and this was my first truck. I was out 2x at the track, did Tims setup and my 3rd time out I could tell there was a big difference. I guy that has been in the game for a long long time took mine for a spin and said he was buying one. He has a couple 1/8 truggys and 1/10 buggies and I think he has a 2wd slash also.

How good of a driver are you? I mean, the truck is only responsible for so much. 90% of being able to drive on a track is the driver, not the truck.

never said strong was bad. Just thought people would like to know it can take a beating and not break.

    too late, Blitz already ordered.
    siiiiiiick!

Maybe Ill keep the 4x4, maybe I wont. I donno just yet. We just dont get along well. Well, I should say it does not care for my aggressive driving style. Maybe I have been running 2wd for too long.

You should really check out the set up help with Slayden thread in the Slash 4X4 forum.

The truck has plenty of steering designed into it. It's just not setup that way out of the box. There's enough steering avaiable to wad itself up into a little ball. If it's steering you're looking for, then it would be worth a look at my setup before you decide to sell.

    That's awesome it didn't break though .

all i can say is that lots of slashes will never see the track, if its a good basher, then keep it unless you really need to money back then now is a good time to sell it before its value starts dropping!

    I dont bash

as for ordering the ESE, its far enough out to not even have a price yet. Im betting a couple months til anyone sees it.

The body is THIN on the PE. The rear breaks easily, and the body pusts have dents all the way around. I dont see it lasting too long.

Thanks Steve, Ill throw the setup on (I was close to that right now) Thing I dont understand is the bumpsteer.. Are we referring to the knuckle end of the toe link? They look roughly the same to me unless it works different with the "flat"

ALSO, looks like you have a way of setting ride height.. The way I do it is chose the springs Id llike to use and use spacers to get desired ride height. Are you doing something different?

Ken, yes, at the knuckle and the hollow ball has a slight offset. I wouldn't worry about this too much. Just put the 'flat' side up. It shows pics in the manual. The ball is offset toward the flat side.

I set ride height to a general base setting (listed in my setup) that I know will handle the bumps and jumps and not be too high for the corners. Then after trying it on the track I see if i need to raise it, lower it or leave it be. I like to run as low as the bumps and jumps will allow.

I use the clips to set height, same as you. I like to use a spring length such that I can use multiple preload clips giving more adjustment room. A spring too long takes that adjustment away.

Most every setting on this chassis plays a significant part in how the truck feels. It's very sensitive to setup changes. And it's probably the most aggressive chassis Traxxas has ever put out. That's a good thing though.

ok, threw the setup on.. all the way. For carpet since I have a race coming up this weekend. Steering? Where is it?? I drove it on the street with a set of Goosebumps on it 100% traction, much like carpet will be. It wheelies with 50k in the diff.. huuh? Wheelies with a center diff? Still cannot get into the corners hard at all, and pushes VERY bad.

Im at a loss? Id LOVE to see this thing turn so sharp it wads itself up into a little ball!

I am trying to follow this setup and have started from the rear end, but i found that the mentioned 5K wt rear diff is about the same thickness as the original "grease", am i correct?
and another question...what level should be the diff oil to be filled? half full as said in the manual? or 80% full?

I'll have to admit those Blitz trucks are freaking quick on the track. You will not get that bulletproof factor with them though. Anorexic a-arms and lightened chassis components get you speed but when they break it is as fun to watch as them zooming around. Snap, there goes your whole right side.

On a brighter note if you feel the need to rid yourself of your 4x4 please part it out. I would appreciate the idea of a PE part out. Especially if I am given the opportunity to buy your sway bars.
ENJOY the hobby, don't HATE it.
