    Do these SMC's fit???

I need to get some ROAR approved lipo batteries for racing in the local club. I am going to run them in the ERBE for sure and maybe in a T4 or B4 also.

The batteries I am looking at are these:

I cannot find any size specs on them. They should fit the T/B4, but what about ERBE's battery compartment?

Have any of you used these, or have a set or one to throw in the truck and see??

    Thanx,

    Matt

I have that LIPO, I don't run it in my ERBE but it will fit if you mod the air vent for the wires to come out. Easy mod, can't wait to get another SPC lipo to match it.

Well I used them and I won't use them anymore...

    1. They don't fit well just because of where the wires exit : http://monster.traxxas.com/showthrea...=446979&page=3 (post #120 and after). Here was my solution : http://monster.traxxas.com/showthrea...=446979&page=7 (post #256).
    2. They puffed after some months of use...

Here are their specs : https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...s&pn=SMC6028LD.

I have a set of these and they fit the compartment very nicely, but you do need to mod the air vents for the wires.
I still use mine, but am currently communicating with SMC cust. service to get them replaced. They never lived up to their mah rating and the punch is just not there. Mine haven't puffed yet, but my research has pointed to these being a very poor battery. Definitely not up to SMC standards.

Popoxx, I noticed that the SMC packs that u purchased did not have the Roar Approve label around it(or did I miss that, I apologize if I did).
I understand it's just a label but has there been a change from the time u purchased them to now? Who approves the Lipos as Roar Approved? I was just wondering because we just purchase a few SMC and SPC packs~

If you want Roar approved batteries you can go here. http://www.spcracing.com

I have 2 of the 8000mAh 2S 20C and they are awesome. puts out tons of juice!!! Plus Castle talked very highly of SPC Lipo's, so they must be awesome.

You're right, mine aren't ROAR Approved, but I think they just put a label.
It's ROAR which approves the parts.

If the wires came out of the middle of the pack (and not of the left side), and if they were longer, it would be perfect.

SPC does not have any ROAR approved batteries. See the list here:

    http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/lipobattery.php

I went through this whole list one day, and looked up every battery that was 2s and had a capacity greater than 5000mah. I bookmarked all the ones that fell into my price window. These SMC's in question are what I had settled on if they fit.

If I buy them, will I regret it? I thought SMC was a 'good' brand?

The problem is that the quality of the SMC packs is variable. Same thing for ******* packs but they are much cheaper : http://www.*********.com/*********/s..._hardcase_pack.

We have both SMC hardpacks which are ROAR approved and the SPC soft pack which are NOT Roar approved.
We only had the chance to roll both packs(smc/spc) a few times because of bad weather. So far so good.......But it's way to early to tell.

I've said this in past threads, my boys and I have been using the 2s TP's for a year and the TP's are still going strong and balance out each time. Even though u don't have to balance these everytime, we do~
To me, that's the true test, a year of bashing/racing with them, I GIVE THEM THE 100% GO AHEAD! PLUS- They fit in the erbe without any mods.

The reason why we went with the SMC Lipo packs is because they have World Class Customer Service and the Lipos are a bit more affordable for parents like me. Plus if the Lipo has any defects, SMC will replace it.
As for the 3sSPC lipo, run in a 4x4Slash...so far so good on that one, but still to early to give a true history of it.
The only other history we have with LIPOS, we purchased a ******* 3s V2 and it only lasted 8-10 runs before it died...Not worth my money ever again~
Not to throw ******* under the bus, I'm just one of those guys who got another bad Lipo from them. I tried to contact them but to no avail :0( I can't stand that kind of business...
    Ohhhh Crap~
