    EZRun in slash?

I bought a slash and I want a cheap fast brushless system for it.
    I was thinking of a EZRun 60A 5.5t combo. I will run on 2s and 3s.
Will this motor overheat too quick on 3s lipo? I want to have at least the power of a vxl system.

you might consider 10t(4000kv...I think) motor. 5.5t just too much for Slash. IMO.

Would a Feigao 8L be a good choice?

I would recommend something like a 9L at 2700kv. I am running this on the ESC from the vxl system. I am running it at 3 cells. I have a 32 pitch pin and spur (17t and 54t). this config is geard for about 41mph. i run it on grass and i never seen it go above 120F. I run the **** out of if.

If you go ezrun get the 60 amp esc and 8.5t 4000kv motor. It's the best choice for 2s and 3s running.

I also run the Ezrun 4000kv motor..it's about right for the Slash..less heat issues and good torque..however I'm thinking of swapping to 5.5T 6000kv motor, as i'm feeling a little left out on the long straights I can gear mine up for more top speed, but the 4000kv has a marginal horsepower deficit compared to the 6000kv.

Some local mod guy had already run 6000kv, with a big heatsink. No issues so far as long as yo watch the temps.

Hey outofsight. Neat to know someone has had luck keeping the 5.5t cool without gearing it LOW but I never had luck keeping the 5.5t cool enough to run without going into thermal without gearing as low as possible. Like 14/90 or 9/56. Personally for the money I would recommend getting yourself a 3s lipo for your 8.5 if you don't have one. The 8.5t 4000kv actually has the same rpm on 3s as the 5.5t 6000kv does on 2s. 4000x11.1=44,400rpms and 6000x7.4=44,400. But the 8.5 can handle the power more efficiently. I gpsd my 8.5t on 3s at about 48mph but never got my 5.5t to get much over 42mph without putting the esc into thermal shutdown

He's only running on 2s Lipo for racing though..and the heatsink is precut out of an alum radiator if I'm not mistaken..its really big but very light since the fins are almost paper thin but serve well to dissipate heat. You're right I might just go to 3s Lipo in the future..for that top end speed. But for now 8.5t on 2s is already a handful with the slayer switch tires

I want to go 50+mph, so is the Feigao a good option? I can still put a mmm 2200kv combo on 6s lipo in it

The MMM combo is for monster trucks. Can you even sqeeze a CC 15 series motor in a slash? Also it has a 5mm shaft and it weighs 424g (15oz). That is more than twice as heavy as the cms36-5700 below.

Here is a cheap option: www.kershawdesigns.com (sorry dan redid his website and doesn't have direct links anymore)

EZRun 60 Amp ESC V2/ Kershaw Designs Revolver 11S(3215kv) Motor. It is pretty close to what you would get out of a vxl motor.(kv wise at least, not sure about timing or retardation and stuff)

    Try this for castle stuff:

im running the ezrun 60 amp esc and 8.5t motor, its hard to get the power down as im on stock tyres, and im only using 5000mah intellect 8.4v nimhs, but his setup is perfect for me, im also using 32 pitch gearing at 14/58.
